i dont think hated a goalie as much as him.... what a ****in ****** bag pos bananna pads ********
Haha I remember that!
I have nothing against Fleury, and he's not a goalie we particularly have trouble with. I can't badmouth Pittsburgh after the respect they showed for Marty after breaking the shutout record there, but man I seriously can't believe people have called Fleury an elite goaltender. He gave up so many soft goals in that series, and actually topped Bryz for softies which was hard to do last season.
I really don't think he'll end that contract which has 3 years left on it, in Pittsburgh. It would probably do them good to unload that, and have more money to re sign Malkin.
That's not entirely true because the arena will still be making money from concerts, shows, and Seton Hall basketball games that will be going on - October isn't very active there, but November and December have a good amount of events lined up and you have to remember, Vanderbeek is the head of Devils Arena Entertainment which operates the arena
Obviously they won't make as much as Devils games but those events should bring some dough in
Plus the Devils' original schedule had something like only nineteen home games till the end of January. The league did VBK a favor by backloading it and allowing him to fill more dates right off without waiting for the lockout.
met this guy at cousin's party last night. didnt really get into talking about the nhl thing too much as we were all there to celebrate a 60th. he sounded stoked about the jets being back though. http://www.hockey-reference.com/play...trimpti01.html
never heard of him before and i felt kind of bad as a hockey fan. oh well.
if i knew of the player i wouldve asked why he was out of the game by age of 25.

People confuse "team with elite goaltender" with "goaltender on elite team."
Fleury is an average goaltender. Nothing more, nothing less.
I was thinking about the replacement ref crap in the NFL. After all that controversy they got the NFL refs back.
I wonder what it's gonna take for us to get the NHL back? Maybe the KHL taking over ESPN? There's gotta be something to turn this thing fast.
The two sides apparently have some kind of agreement regarding HRR which is a good stepping stone towards more progress.
Honestly, I don't think either side really wants to lose a season. Both sides are bluffing. Just a matter of who flinches first, although it seems like both sides are starting to wiggle a little bit.

September 24 - ESPN ranks Devils 5th in power rankings
October 8 - ESPN ranks Devils 20th in power rankings
I'm impressed with ESPN on this one. We have fallen 15 spots during a lockout.
That's amazing.
And I hope the rumor that both sides made concessions is true and we are well on our way to getting this over with....but...they can wait another week or two so they don't do that absurd 82 game crammed schedule. 2 weeks off doesn't sound like much but that is begging for injuries. I guess I'll take that over no games though.

Burnside and LeBrun alternate who does the power rankings. Obviously they have different opinions on how we stand currently. Oddly enough, the Devils seem to have made Burnside into a believer.
Apparently Bobby Ryan played in a roller hockey tournament over the weekend in Vegas. I've played in that rink before. It's in a really random strip mall with a bunch of Asian restaurants.
The first year we played there, a bunch of folks couldn't find the rink because there were no signs. We had to give directions that went something like "Make a right when you see the wig shop. Then keep going and the rink is next to another wig shop."
One time, a couple buddies took a cab to the rink. Cab driver blurts out something like "So, you guys going to the wife swap place?"
always liked him. let him work with lou a year, then replace him. id be pickled tink with that scenario. not my first choice, but def a solid replacement.
I could only DREAM of him doing our color commentary but he says he wants a job in NHL management. I'd welcome him in the front office to support Lou.
Would feel awkward considering he was a long-time stalwart with the Rags but I'd welcome him to the commentator booth although I think he is a better color-commentator than someone who calls the games.
And anyway, since he wants a job in NHL management, I'd also be all for him being involved with Lou in the Devils organization.
