Sorry correct, I meant to put Austrian League team, but my bad. Reading fail on my part. His question was accurate.

Nice to see Mursak tear it up, very good start. Interesting because the Wings always talk about his shot is sneaky good and we know about the speed. It would appear he has a little better hockey sense than we have heard about at least he does over while playing in Europe. Still think him gaining confidence even against lesser competition is huge for a guy coming off the injury he is.

Looks like Drew Miller has signed a lockout contract with Braehead Clan in the English Elite Ice Hockey League.

Yep, they just tweeted it. My local team

Apparently he's the first of two 'surprises' to be unveiled this week *fingers crossed for his brother*

So excited about this that I'm not even going to pick you up for saying English league (The Clan are based in Scotland and the EIHL is UK-wide)

I feel embarassed, the clubs in my country don't want nhl players just because they take icetime from the homegrown youth players, and also they can't afford the insurances for the players with big money contracts... a one month insurance for zetterberg is like €110k, pretty big numbers for small swedish clubs

Zetterberg shouldn't be 'forced' to play in freakin switzerland

Sorry about that, couldn't remember the actual name of the league...

Man would I like to see a game with Z and Brunner on the same line. I've only found highlights of the Swiss league so far.

Absolutely no need for an apology.

And yeah, also hoping that the Z-Brunner line works magic in the Swiss league.

Well Z going pretty much means we can pack up the season. He said he wouldn't go anywhere if there was a lockout and would stay a deal is done. He is on the negotiations team, not a good sign.

On the whole not going to Sweden thing, it sounds like he and his wife get a little tired of some of the attention in Sweden. They love being from there, but I think it can get a bit overwhelming at times for them. The insurance is a big deal, but maybe after spending a chunk of the summer in Sweden they are thinking best case this is two months in Switzerland. See something new.

Z was already pretty nice about Brunner in a couple of articles around Detroit. Hoping they can gain some chemistry, have to think Babcock's starting in the top 6 comment will actually be correct if they click over there and come back for training camp having played a couple months together.

I see it similarly. Actions speak louder than words.

This lockout is killing me, first there's no NHL and now the Swedes aren't even going to Sweden so I can't watch them play anyway. AHL will be the rescue.

This could really be a great headstart if they develop some chemistry over a few months ...

Franzen Datsyuk Nyquist
Filp Zetterberg Brunner

His intial statements were leaving much later and when the full season was cancelled.

I wanted to wait a little bit before going, but the last few weeks the indication is it's going to be tougher and tougher to get spots there, especially with the contract I have and the insurance costs,
http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index....berg_st_1.html

I don't fault him but it is a change from the reporting a month ago. I wish him the best of luck and hope he stays healthy. Even last week he was talking about competitions for who would pay for the ice time being rented under his name. Something has changed in his opinion and with him being believed to be very aware of all the negotiations as a member of the players "board" of 30 players this is not a good sign for me.

Also would point out as usual with the NHLPA a little disappointed Z went there with a misinformation campaign of sorts was in his statements.

Quote:
Zetterberg will be back when the lockout ends, but he's not sure if some others playing in Europe will return this season.

“I know for a fact Russians will probably stay,'' Zetterberg said. “I can't blame them either. The Russian league treats players a different way. For them to play in their home country and not have these (labor) disputes every other year … and they honor the contracts over there. If you sign a deal, that's the deal you get.''

Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk is playing for CSKA Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League. His agent, Gary Greenstin, said Datsyuk will return to Detroit once the lockout ends.
That last part I left in just so people wouldn't freak out about Datsyuk. But the original comments are pretty off-base. The KHL just had salary rollbacks a year ago, players have missed game checks and get bought out or flat out released from contracts (Hello Hudler) all the time. Make your points Z, but don't stretch the truth either. That was frustration coming through, but should be pointed out even as much as I like Zetterberg he seems all over the map on this. Saying nothing of the fact the IIHF will hammer these guys for breaking contracts, I know why the players threaten it. But I don't see the KHL teams paying the fines and the players not wanting to be eligible for World Championships and Olympic games.

We'll see if Datsyuk comes back.
I'd say there is about a 10 percent chance right now that Datsyuk never plays in the NHL again.

I'm not sure what kind of deal he has with CSKA...
My guess is that if the season is lost, the chance that Datsyuk is done as an NHLer increase considerably.

It depends how important the olympics and other international tournaments are to him. I think he comes back and finishes out his contract, just to keep his eligibility for those things alive. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he doesn't re-up, though.
