Josi vs. Gardiner

Two young offensive D that are really making a name for themselves. I know TML fans think the world of Gardiner, and Preds fans are very excited to see what Josi can do on a pairing with Weber whenever this season starts.

Obviously both are great, but who would you rather have this year and going forward?

haven't seen Gardiner much but I'm really impressed by Josi, so I gave him the nod for both.

Same. He is my favorite NHLer (besides maybe Rinne).

Gardiner will be more flashy and might wow some people but Josi is quietly very impressive. You watch him with Nashville and hes always in the right spot making the little plays. Tough to call

Josi for both. Preds fans should very incredibly excited about what he can bring now and in the future. I think he has the potential to turn into a top D man.

Leafs fan saying Gardiner now, Josi in the future.

I see Josi quietly turning into legitimate top-pairing d-man for a long-haul, while Gardiner in my honest opinion will be one of the better #3, or a low-end #2 d-man at best.

In your opinion, what holds Gardiner back?

I see where he's coming from, but the only thing holding him back is himself, he's got hockey sense, skating, skill and a good frame to build on. He has all the tools to be a Legit top pairing guy, but he may not put it all together.

You can say the same thing with Gardiner

I'll go with Josi right now. More games played. More proven.

Ive seen both substantially and known about Josi quite a while before, however Gards gets more of an advantage just due to his skill.

If anything Gards CAN be a #2 but it's unsure if he can. Josi is ideally that 2B or 3A IMO. Who is just a damn reliable defensemen.

Desicion-making with the puck, ability to play physical(he is way too soft many times, especially in the corners), and mainly the defensive play in his own end. He is a solid offensive d-man but has ways to go to in terms of his defensive game.

I dunno, something about Gardiner seems different then what I see from Josi. Gardiners got the flash but in their own zones I dont see all the little plays from Gardiner that I do from Josi. Josi established himself on one of the top defensive teams in the league, played great in the playoffs.
