Bergenheim became my favorite player last year. The guy is clutch. I'll never forget him setting up the tying goal in game seven, carrying the puck to the net on a broken foot. No way in hell should we try to get rid of him.

2014-2015 his contract is up.

Minimal games? He played 62 out of 82 games, 3/4 of the season, he's played 342 games over the last 5 years out of 410. Certainly not an iron man, but not bad for his rate. He scored 17 goals, and was good every time on the ice. Had 6 points in 7 games in the playoffs a year after getting 11 in 16 for TB.

It would be a poor choice, send a poor message (especially since about everyone is overseas currently), and I don't see Tallon seeing this as an option. Thankfully.

i agree. it would send a bad message. the reason i brought this up was because bergie seems to be involved in every trade scenario, in order to send salary back. just playing the devils advocate. wonder if this happened to bryz and the flyers had the chance would they void his contract???

You sure you're not mistaking Bergie for Upshall? I haven't seen Bergenheim in any proposals, Scotty has been in nearly all of them, though.

And I don't know, they probably would.

No worries, maybe now you can understand my head scratching posts. If this were Scotty, then yes I'd say we should look at the option. I like him well enough, but maybe bring him back at a cheaper rate if he's willing. They are similar enough in styles and size though, so it's an understandable mistake.
