NBA $$$$$ >>>> NHL $ - ainec (yet the NHLPA can't see that)

Great job there Adam Smith

The economics in the NHL and NBA are very similiar despite your claims and repeated use of the > symbol.

Do you know what percentage of revenue the NBA players got in the cba before this current one that they are on ? 57%

Did you know that before the NBA lockout the same number of teams were losing money and were having trouble making the cap floor?

If you actually read the reports out there the apparent holdup on a CBA is the owners reluctance to adopt a meaningful revenue sharing program.

The onus appears to be on the owners more than the players this time around.

I love it when roller players transition over to ice. They usually have some piece of equipment that is all white, they love to dangle, they can't pass and when you hit them they fly off the edge. Then they go back to roller.

Don't know how many of you watched the KHL game, but my God was it boring.

Same here. I'm not going to watch a KHL game, hell I barely am missing the NHL right now.

I have football to watch on the weekends, Monday and Thursday. Playing hockey myself on Wednesday nights, Friday night can go out in the city after the long work week. I guess I miss the NHL on Tuesdays

Unfortunately I think there are a lot of people in my shoes, there are just to many other entertainment and sports options. And I consider myself a huge NHL fan, I subscribe to game center and I went to over a dozen games last year without even living in the same market as the team I follow. Guys like me (and most of us on this board) are diehards, yet I just don't see the outcry, it sucks, but we have all moved on and found other things to consume our time. These owners and players are both guilty in overestimating how much the general public is going to miss the NHL.

I find myself more interested in other sports as well, been watching the MLB playoffs and been following the Lakers, which I used to watch more regularly during the Showtime era. This third lockout has made me feel indifferent. I don't care for it.

Probably because you don't have a stake in either of the teams playing.

Hell, even if you are a long-time Kings fan, and watch a Boston - Philly game, you can feel the nostalgia and tradition in watching such a game (especially the playoffs).

So I think naturally any other league would be boring as hell. It is for me...NHL has always been the only league I've ever watched (well, except for the WHA days...now that was some wide-open hockey! ).

I don't know if that's the thing. I could tune in and watch a CHL game or NCAA game and enjoy it. Hell, even an AHL game, but this particular game in the KHL was just so flat and dull. It had zero intensity. It didn't seem like they were playing for anything and appeared like an exhibition match. Even the pro NHLers or guys who formerly played in North America looked disinterested.

Except that it is "real life" for every guy that plays in the NHL. Does the staving African kid get to say your life isn't "real life"? Come on man. About the only thing you got right is that yes, I am not Shea Weber and no, I have never had a CCM endorsement deal.

Whatevs, like I said before I don't really see any point at getting mad about it, least of all at each other.

Kings fans = champs, the rest can suck it...

I think that was actually a Steve Levy - Barry Melrose Podcast just spouting off about whatever they felt like talking about. Barry mentioned the 5 people he recognized a couple of times, but for the most part they talked about everything from the CBA to the Redwings PA guy who passed away.

Levy with the line of the night "Well, this game won't be on ESPN Classic anytime soon"

It almost seems that they cloned TM to coach just about every team there...

The Kings site is streaming the Monarchs/Providence game right now. You can see Voynov and Nolan, at least.

Also, what the **** is with all the ads on HFboards popping up everywhere? Annoying as hell.
