No thanks, Leafs don't have anything we should want but Grabovski, maybe Gunner. The rest of the team, they can keep them.

I know Chicago fans on here seem to think TT is some blue chip, can't miss, next-Selanne type, but there's some reason he was passed over 17 times before CHI picked him. He may end up having a good career or he may not ever sniff the level of play Kessel brings.

We already have two of the best RWers in the game. Why should we be looking to get another one?

Exactly, and they've tried Hossa and Kane as left wings, it doesn't work. As for the value, if we are giving up all of that, we should at least be getting an awesome center and probably a goalie upgrade on top of that.

Haha exactly what Toronto would be looking for if they were to trade their best player/asset.

The Leafs don't have a core, they probably should be exploring deals like this. Unfortunately the Leafs fan base has no patience so Burke is on the hot seat. He's slowly building a playoff team, but there really isn't any high end talent coming up that is going to make them a true contender. A deal like this plus a couple top 5 picks would get them back on track. People talk about how Calgary needs to rebuild, at least they have a good team and a nice, albeit aging, core. But the Leafs, I don't get their direction.

And I'm being objective because I don't like the Hawks direction either, go for it or don't go for it, this inbetween stuff is wasting years.

Couldn't be more backwards, Leafs fans wanted to follow the Chicago/Pittsburgh/Edm way all along...Burke is the one who lacked patience.

Nothing worse than missing the playoffs and selecting 13th overall

No thanks, already have 2 better RW's and Kessel makes too much for 3rd line duties. Bozak is nothing special either, so I would rather keep a future top 4 offensive Dman and future 2nd line W.

If you could get Kessel for some scrappy futures, Boston, Pittsburgh and others would probably be on that like white on rice, seeing as how there are several teams that need a RW worse than CHI. Even with Hossa injured and old. Which of course ignores the fact that Kessel cannot be had for that. Unless TO gets the best center in this deal (not also gives away the best proven C).

Be a great starting point if we were rebuilding from scratch but I think the plan is to try and bring in a 1A/1B center for Kessel.

- The majority of Leaf fans wanted a full rebuild when Sundin was still here... IF management had done that, we would probably have a really solid young core here that was already making the playoffs or at least very close. So if anything Leaf fans are just extremely frustrated because they WANTED a full rebuild, but consecutive GMs robbed them of that

-Calgary's missed the playoffs for 3 years straight... I wouldn't call that a "good team".

Anyways, as for Toronto.. If the ultimate goal is to win the SC, they may have to enter another mini rebuild. I don't know if Kessel/Phaneuf are going to want to sign longterm, seeing as their contracts are up in 1.5 years and this team STILL doesn't have much of a future (due to the GMs not having patience, NOT because of the fans). So yea, I think they may have to take another few steps back before taking steps forward. Bozak/MacArthur/Lupul/Connolly/Lombardi are all UFAs next year with varying amounts of trade-deadline value. And then the following year like i said, Kessel/Phaneuf could be on their way out. All options should be considered.
