The Merrill hit was bad. Head first into the boards, stayed down on his knees for about 10 seconds, got up, blinked like 20 times, dropped back to his knees, got back up, and attempted to skate back to his bench. It looked like he had absolutely no clue where he was. Did not look good whatsoever.

Whoa, when you're talking about a neck injury, nothing is minor. I'm glad it's not really serious though. Two months off is a long injury, but at least it didn't wipe out his season.

Like Saugus said, the words "neck", "minor", and "fracture" don't seem to go together. Bummed that I won't be able to see Merrill play next month, but hopefully he has a smooth recovery.

Fractured vertebrae, COMPLETELY different than a broken neck.
What does a broken neck actually involve? There isn't much there outside of spinal area. Is this like having a minor pregnancy?
Broken neck, if I have this correctly, is a complete break of the neck, or the vertebrae in the neck. A vertebrae fracture is a break in one of the vertebrae in the neck, is almost like an "opening" within the bone. The "break" occured in the middle of the bone.
