1. That's absurd. You think that the teams should be able to both deprive them of their paychecks by locking them out, and are justified in telling them to stay home and wrap themselves in cushions?
2. It would almost certainly be viewed legally as an unfair labor practice--and likely compromise the NHL's end-goal, perhaps, of having an impasse declared and thus being able to unilaterally impose their last formal offer.
Exactly. And on top of that, the teams are going to have to tread carefully, esp. if they get the roll back they are looking for.
Somehow, I don't think Hartnell, Voracek and Simmonds signed their extensions at the last minute expecting to be asked to give a cut back right off the top. '
Ed Snider giveth with one hand and taketh with the other a week later.
Why does Bill Daly feel the need to update us on revenue not being made by billionaire owners on games that THEY cancelled??? What a bunch of pigs. He even phrases it at revenue "lost". Well you're really not losing it if you never had it, you're just not making it. Again, ON GAMES THAT YOU CANCELLED JACKWADS!
Did your sources also happen to mention around when that giant stick is coming out of your butt?
We're all dying to know.
(edited so the mods leave me alone)
No, just told me he is pretty certain that there will be no NHL this season. He has told me some pretty great info that has come true before so I believe him. He has no reason to feed me wrong information. I guess your "sources" arent giving you the correct information.

You seem like a bitter individual. Who cares if he's wrong? This is just a site to speculate. Nobody really takes the word of anyone here to be anything more than just that. I hope he's right, but I'm not going to crucify the guy if his "sources" are wrong.

bitter? how so? because my sources gave me different info than his sources?

it isnt the information you posted, it is how you "said" it.
you put "" around the word sources when referring to how he received his information. A clear sign that you dont think very highly of his contribution to this thread.
spot the difference.
your "sources" (translation: "uh huh, sure whatever")
your sources. (translation: the people who feed you information)

It's intended to show their resolve. Basically.. "We've already given away this much money for our cause. That's how strongly we believe that this system is broken and it reflects that we are willing to lose millions to fix it."
It's stupid, but that is how I've seen it portrayed.
What is your source of water? I like the filtered water from the fridge, however sometimes I go tap. My sources are usually good.
I think my source comes from the Potomac area, so it can be terrible. You'll definitely want to buy into the Kool-Aid, at minimum. Then it's a great source.

It's not much better on this side of the Potomac. Maryland water is filthy so we have one of those Deer Park office coolers shipped right to our house.
Solves all of those hangover mornings when people wake up, drink all the filtered water in the fridge, and don't refill it. (I'm often the guilty party there.)
"Bill Meltzer @billmeltzer
It's natural Flyers would say they're happy with D & moves before season unlikely. In reality, you know they're looking for ways to upgrade.
If only because of all the health-related question marks (Timonen, Meszaros, Gus ankle, MAB concussion), they'll be looking to add depth.
"
D wise, if the Flyers sign Randy Jones, I will be pissed. Campoli and Foster are NHLish D unsigned. (Foster purely PP specialist). Eric Fehr is having a good season in Findland, he may be a decent forward to sign.

Just a low rumble for now, but there are whispers KHL teams may be offering "inducements" to get RUS stars to stay and not return to NHL.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
In last 24 hours, multiple sources told me NHL teams would do well to have roll call because it's possible a RUS player or two may not show.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Two things to keep in mind: 1. Many RUS stars publicly stated earlier this season they might stay the entire the year in the KHL.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
2. NHL-KHL have post-Radulov pact to honor contracts. That said, been suggested to me this entire issue could heat up again. We'll see.
The Flyers should offersheet Michael Del Zotto the highest 2nd round tender, which I think is 3.3 million. Add Reddens cap hit, and that eats up all the space of the Rangers this year if they match. They will be hard pressed to add anybody at the deadline. Plus they have to sign McDonagh, Stepan, and Hagelin next year as the cap drops. If they match on Del Zotto, then give a McDonagh a higher one next year in the 1st and 3rd, or 1st, 2nd and 3rd range. The Flyers always lock up the players they really like before they hit rfa, so there is really no worry for reprisal. Either you get a young puck over in Del Zotto for a 2nd, a future 1st paring stud well before his prime starts, or you cripple the rangers cap system. No bad options there.

Those guys would actually have to sign an offer sheet.

Only one I could possibly see staying is Visnovsky, he didn't want to be in Long Island to begin with, is now playing for his hometown team and is absolutely loved over there. He's in the last years of his career Could see him pulling a Ziggy Palffy retiring and just deciding to stay over there as a "comeback" He'd be barred from playing in the NHL for 2 years but who care's he'd rather be there anyway. Any word on S. Kostitsyn? He had a lot to say about possibly staying earlier in the lockout.
