I know but you have to get him on thee same line as Kessell and Statsny to form a scoring line since they are the most offensive minded/1 dimensional players.

Didn't realize Quick & Fowler were American. Cool.

Fowler was on the 2010 Gold Medal WJC team with Kreider and Stepan

I think Scuderi and Johnson make the lineup over two of the offensive defencemen.

Marcus Foligno is Canadian. But I think Nick considers himself American?

Jake Gardiner is American isn't he? Erik Johnson? Did you list Jack Johnson or Erik?

Other forwards of note would be Joe Pavelski, Drew Stafford, JVR, Brandon Dubinsky just off the top of my head which would all be possible inclusions depending on the seasons they are having.

I'd bet that Scuderi lands in the top-4, and both Jack and Erik Johnson end up playing ahead of Shattenkirk, Fowler and Byfuglien.

Some combination of: Suter, Yandle, Scuderi, McDonagh, EJ and JMFJ. Shattenkirk and Byfuglien as reserves.

If Stepan continues to trend up, and Stastny doesn't regain his form, I could see Stepan seeing serious time. Especially if Torts is the coach. Pavelski is on their radar as well, I would think.

Don't want Pavelski or E.Johnson we have far more talented players to choose from now than we did in 2010.

I do like the idea of Stepan centering the Kane/Kessel line if Statsny doesn't shape up though. If Statsny isn't centering that line there really is no use for him on the team.

Oh and #teamchriskreider

John Carlson is suffering a career-ending injury within the next two years, I see.

Pacioretty over Kreider in my opinion. He has to find a way into the top 4 lines, he played very well last season and there's no reason to assume he'll decline. Other than that, looks good. Maybe put Parise/Kesler on different lines to balance things out, but you already said you wanted to go for an offense only line so. I'd also put Pominville on the third over Brown. The states look like they're going to have a very strong team.

Coyle is another prospect who has a shot at contending for the team. When the NHL starts back up he will see alot of NHL time.

Carlson would make it over Byfuglien, JJ, and EJ.

Probably not right now, but in 2 years probably over Scuderi.

I like Carlson but unless he has a big time breakout season(entirely possible) I would rather have Byfuglien or JJ.

Horrible 4th and 5th line...

Kreider...really? After 1 season in NHL will be on team USA?! Crosby didn't even make it that early. Also Joe Pavelski is better than everyone in that bottom 6...

I am obviously projecting with Kreider. And Pavelski is a good player which was fine in 2010 but the talent pool is greater now we don't have to settle.

The 1998 American team was much more talented. The forwards were on a different level.

They both consider themselves Canadian, and were mostly trained in Canada. Nick plays for USA, but I think he has said he cheers for Canada if he isn't participating in a given tournament.

Playing Byfuglien on big ice seems like a bad idea to me

Hard to beat the 1998 squad in terms of talent. That edition was basically the who's who of American hockey. The goaltending and maybe the lack of prime, nasty physical shutdown pieces hurts them in this comparison though. Your projected 3rd line just look absolutely nasty to play against.

Kesler ----- Modano
Stastny --- Roenick
Backes ---- Lafontaine
Oshie ----- Weight
Stepan ---- Otto

Kane --------- Hull
Kessel -------- Amonte
Brown -------- Guerin
Callahan ------ Deadmarsh
Pomminville --- Langenbrunner

Ryan ---- LeClair
Parise --- Tkachuk
Kreider
Pacioretti

Suter -------- Chelios
Yandle ------- Leetch
McDonaugh --- D. Hatcher
Fowler ------- Suter
Byfuglien ----- Schneider
Shattenkirk --- K. Hatcher
Scuderi ------ Carney
Johnson ------ Berard

Quick ------- Richter
Schneider --- Vanbiesbrouck
Miller -------- Hebert
