He was/is more unfortunate than a disappointment. Not to mention, he wasn't even supposed to be drafted that high; almost made the team in his second year.

He's certainly not bad now, but hasn't come anywhere close to living up to the hype he got, which for St Louis is probably quite the disappointment. They thought they were getting a franchise defenseman
He was well on his way until his injury.

He is still going to be the Avalanche's franchise defenseman.

He's a fairly good player, but he's also been a pretty big disappointment so far. I mean, he was taken 1st overall overall in a draft that was very strong near the top, with Jordan Staal, Jonathan Toews, Nicklas Backstrom and Phil Kessel going 2-5. A lot of people were looking at him as a generational talent, and so far he's been pretty . . . meh. He has a lot of tools when you watch him, but he just has not been THAT effective, on St. Louis or Colorado.

Ah, I figured this was a 'top 10' list, not only top 10 drafted players. I'd consider some of those guys bigger busts overall than some of the list myself. Especially with how overhyped Parent got at one point.

People overhyped him due to where St. Louis drafted him, but that doesn't make him a disappointment because other people had Bobby Orr expectations. It doesn't matter who you are or where you're drafted, if you manage to become a top pairing defender, first line center or starting goalie you're hardly a disappointment.

There's still plenty of time for him regardless.

considering hype with this disapointment, hard to not take Kadri or L. Schenn... they were both really pumped up by fans/media initially.

Another name is Angelo Esposito

Pretty sure he was a big disappointment to St Louis

Filatov

I don't think Hamill should really be on that list considering he never really made the NHL other than some call ups to cover for injuries. I mean, he only has 20 games played over the last 3 years. 16 of which came last year but still! I don't really remember the hype ever really being there for him either? Wasn't he considered a big surprise to be picked as high as he was?

If it was biggest bust, my vote would go for Angelo Esposito AINEC.

Nowhere even close. 10th overall pick looking to have a solid career although he's hit a bit of a roadblock in Chicago. The answer is Thomas Hickey. 4th overall pick with 0 NHL games? That's terrible.

I went with Hickey. Captain of Canadas world junior team, you would think he would have done something in the the NHL

People were seriously saying they'd take Brule over Crosby.

Filatov for sure. Even when he got a second chance with a glaring hole in the top 6 he couldn't make it happen. Bust.

James Sheppard is another big disapointment after being taken 9th overall by Minny. Although I have to agree with Brule and Filatov. Ironically they both were drafted by the same team and management.

James Sheppard. Was thought as a potential top line center, ends up as the worst player in the National Hockey League. Of course, the idiotic management in Minnesota playing his 19 yr old season strictly on 4th line defensive role was dumb too.

Same here.

Also EJ hasn't been as good as he was expected to be back in '06 but he was still our best player last year in my opinion.
