I know MacDonald is going to clear 500K this year regardless of if he is playing the AHL or NHL, his money is the same this season. Janik had a similar clause in Grand Rapids last year.

I don't know who will win and the lockout if it happens can really change a lot of this, especially since the CHL agreement has expired the last time I read about it. Some of the big guns like Toews have hinted they would stay in North America, imagine what that does if he signs with say the Wolves to stay in the Chicago area to a lot of the predictions around here. Too early with a lot of what can play out to call a favorite right now in my opinion. Hoping Grand Rapids works their way into the playoffs this year, think they will if both Nyquist and Smith are forced down there, it makes them a much bigger player if there is a lockout.

Yes, those would be NHL 1-way contracts.

Not exactly they both had deals that stipulated they made less in the previous years of their contract at the AHL level. It was the final year of their deals that promised the big money no matter what.

Marlies Have a pretty wicked team coming together in the A, and will at least make the conference finals... Hopefully get AHL online this year and follow it along.

Meaning the second year of the deal was a ONE WAY contract.

I guess maybe I am misunderstanding it. Then they have to clear NHL waivers right? Now I think both guys would and perhaps Janik was waived at some point very early in camp, but I don't remember it playing out that way.

The IceCaps look great heading in as long as there is no lockout. If there is a lockout they will not luck out as much as some other teams with better players coming down to play. They made a few signings to make an already strong team even stronger. I love to see that Ray Sawada is coming back.

The IceCaps offense looks better then last years team. Their goaltending looks solid. The question mark will be on D, they lost alot of veterans on D.

If there's a lockout, OKC is the best team in the league.

I believe the CHL-NHL deal expired, so he's able to. It is either that, or the fact that he played an NHL season.

Either way, he's already been sent to AHL, so yeah.

bridgeport, like many others, will be stacked with talent. Especially the d corps and the goalie situation look good:

(lineup according to BennyBST)

Kabanov-Cizikas-Niedderreiter
Ullstrom-Nelson-McDonald
Persson-Sundstrom-Watkins
Riley-Defazio-Backman
Gallant

Hamonic (A)-de Haan
Donovan-Wishart
Ness-McIvor
Landry

Nilsson
Poulin

TJ Hensick's 2-way contract with StL/Peoria for this season is $600K/$300K according to Capgeek. Would guess that puts him in top few.

St.John's are flying under the radar this year.No one is picking them.

We got a deep team.Stacked at every position,

Even if the lockout ends tomorrow we will be fine unlike most teams mentioned.

The IceCaps have perhaps the most well rounded team in the AHL. Their depth and leadership is absolutely amazing. As of right now, they're a team built for the playoffs. By acquiring a proven goaltender in Dekanich, this will give Pasquale the push he needs to battle for the net and also time to rest. Brian Sutherby, a great leader in Arsene and a potential 30 goal scorer in Whitemore are only adding to an already lethal team that was the IceCaps last season.

Add in Burmistrovs speed and skill set, and Hunter Tremblay who could potentially put up 20+ goals this season, The IceCaps have the potential to have another year of scoring by committee with the addition of a 20 goal scorer on all 4 lines.

I have them battling for 1st in the east all season long.

They may have the best goalie tandem in the AHL. I haven't seen Hellberg play for Milwaukee yet. He is tall, like Pekka Rinne, but really thin. Jeremy Smith is very good in goal in the AHL. The Admirals should make some noise this season.

Bulldogs are stacked this year...Jared Tinordi, Nathan Beaulieu, Brendan Gallagher, Louis Leblanc, Blake Geoffrion, Aaron Palushaj, Cedric Desjardins...should be a great young team if they can build some fast chemistry.
