If Lindholm, Zibanejad, Brodin is playing AHL hockey when WJC is about to begin it must be a big chance we can use them, right? Never heard a player being stopped by a AHL team. Lehner was in AHL 10-11 but played for Sweden in WJC etc..
Karlsson was stopped when playing in the AHL, but he was also Ottawa's first callup. As long as there is a lockout I'm positive. WJC eligible guys playing in the AHL aren't many by tradition.

How would this impact the RUS, CAN and USA roster?
Is already playing in the OHL for the Oshawa Generals. 5 games 4 goals 2 assists
I thought CHL players could get called to AHL camp? Maybe it was just NHL camp.. Seems like Rask and Bengtsson are going to AHL camps anyway, but they haven't played in junior to begin the season in difference to Biggs.

I'm not sure if there's an option for European players over North Americans whereas a NA player with junior eligibility remaining must play junior. Or it's a case by case basis... as long as the players are where they want to be...and come Christmas time we all have our players going...
must play junior in the absence of NHL is what I meant...

It's just Hockey Canada/CHL that protects its drafted junior players from going to the AHL afaik(special exempt was made for RNH however). Biggs was drafted out of the USDP for instance, just like J.T. Miller. I was just confused whether AHL eligible guys starting the season in juniors can go to camp or not. All the guys listed there are eligible for one reason or the other.
Dansk and the rest of the goalies will still have to battle it out to see who takes the #1 spot.
Although there's alot of players knocking on the door for this team (Molin, de la Rose, Lillieström, Schumacher, Sörensen, Burakovsky etc) I feel pretty confident that this will be very close to the final team, based on what Rönnberg likes to see in a player. For example (like it or not) it's very likely that RR will go with Boyce instead of Molin, since he seem to really like him and have experience of coaching him before. I also think RR really likes the intensity that Arvidsson brings, so it'll be hard to keep him out. And for a 4th line role I think the safer bet would be to bring Lundberg compared to bringing any of the younger players such as De la Rose, Sörensen or Burakovsky.
Obviously the D's and G's are pretty much locked in already, it's sort of just the last few forward spots that are rather open atm. As for Goalies I think the next 2 months will determine which one of the 4 gets to spend xmass and NYE home in Sweden.
they are often right with info, but yeah changed to rumor
I wonder if Rikard Grönborg will take over U20?
It would be logical(since he's been assistant to Roger at the WJC) but I kinda hope not. It's a big difference between U18 and U20, but he hasn't shown he can coach a winner and his teams have time and time again underachieved in the big games.
Forthe first time ever Sweden j-20-team will have the problem that too many of the best forwards shoots right. Filip Forsberg, Rickard Rakell, Mika Zibanejad, Elias Lindholm, Sebastian Collberg, Nick Sörensen, Viktor Arvidsson, Max Görtz, et.c.
On the other hand Järnkrok, Silfverberg and Wännberg played together as three righties in the playoffs and that went pretty well. If you use it right(no pun intended ) you can make it a weapon.
To be seriously considered, he should probably play some in SEL, but theres loads of forwards competing for spots in Skellefteå, so the chances for that is slim. He has looked great in the few games I have watched with Saik j-20 this season. Quite a player.
how would you guys compare the potential of this years talent pool to last year for Sweden?
This team should be better really, especially if everyone is available (noone playing in NHL or injured). The forwardcrop looks really stacked this year, defense looks good, and goalies ok.
It was a bit strange that it was the 1992's that won gold for Sweden since it never really been regarded as a especially strong yeargoup (besides Larsson and Landeskog that didn't play in that WJC anyway). I guess good coaching, good team spirit and leadership abilities in players like Johan larsson won us the gold.
If you go by raw talent the 2010-team looked much more impressive on paper, but they only manage a third place finish.
Hard to find weaknesses this year, it would be in goal then. Dansk isn't as proven as any starting goalie we've had the last 7-8 years, but his potential is up there. This'll be the first time in a long time we don't have a SEL or Allsvenskan starter in net.
The 93's more or less won us the gold last year and they're eligible this year too, while the 94's are imo better than the 92's so that'll be an improvement.
Roster for Sundsvall tourney should be announced soon.
EDIT: Both de la Rose and Burakovsky is on the U20 roster
Almost figured that when I didn't see them on the U18 squad. I wonder if they'll go 14 forwards. For me, de la Rose is one of the frontrunners for a 4th line spot.
Also, no Krupic on the U18 squad. Could probably be on the U20. He has 11 points in 6 U18 intl. games this season.
