Agreed. In a strange way the lockout actually helps us with Davidson in two ways. 1. There won't be any TV networks throwing money at Davidson until the lockout ends. 2. He could immediately begin scouting our AHL and European players in addition to prospects.

Hire Davidson? Yes, No, Why, Why Not (includes awesome poll)

*Yawn*

Should we hire this guy?

Not this guy:

Though I'm not sure he could do worse than this guy:

I say we should hire guy #1.
If nothing else, it will give us hope that some fresh hockey mind has come into the organization, and he will probably have the power to fire Howson.

He certainly did a heck of a job in StL, and his TV CHOPS should make him far more entertaining that the current suit in the chair.

Yes hire him. He knows what he's doing, has interest in being apart of the organization, and can help us get to where the organization needs to be.

I can't think of any reason not to hire him.

Now see, how can it be to early in the season when the season hasn't started yet?

Like Pete, if there is an opportunity and there is nothing better (hard to see how there would be, he is very good, at least as far as we can tell, and available) I don't see why you wouldn't.

Kind of an extension from the original thread, with a poll added?

Absolutely....hire him (assuming it gets Priest out of the way) and then turn the boy loose.

Hiring him would immediately improve the image of our club, so I'm all for it.
I think right now we are on a path to having a good team, but hiring Davidson should not only make us good, but great and stable for years.

Looking at the available answers, this poll should have been multiple choice.
I voted yes, but that's assuming he's been properly vetted by something more than the "what kind of tree are you?" test.
What was his role specifically in St. Louis' turnaround?

FTR: this post above was the first post a new thread which got merged with "all things Davidson" probably because (poll):

A) HF doesn't want anymore threads to generate ad revenue???
B) Or ad revenue is so far down during the lockout they can't afford the server space?
C) Or Howson has a job on the side with HF to make ends meet during the lockout -and didn't like my Bozo allude-ment.
D) Or... DSL is really bored.
E) I should have posted a poll about cam Atkinson.

Vote now.

Question: Will the non-signing be a sign/admission that this year is in the crapper -no revenue to hire?

President of Hockey Operations. He joined when the team was in absolute disarray(far worse than the Jackets are right now IMO). He hired the right guys for the job and I can't thank him enough for what he did for this club. I'm certain he would do great things in Columbus if they gave him the opportunity.

Today is Boneless Night according to the AD appearing on the top if this page on my phone.

If the lockout continues expect ads for salad bars, farmersonly, and pawn stores.

Vote now on the Davidson poll or on the "merge thread" explanation options?

Encouraging words from AP this morn. If Davidson is a golfer Columbus is a great place. Also very nice housing options. And while the hockey team sucks, there is no place to go but up. Chance for JD to add to his legend. Please don't ask him what kind of a tree he'd be.

AP says they are bringing in JD and his wife to look at the city and the suburbs. Not sure why you'd do that unless you were fairly certain you were going to be moving to Columbus. Can't imagine it would be smart for JD to have Mrs JD fall in love with a place and then not make the move.

Looks like a "chamber of commerce" Saturday- 72 and sunny. Perfect fall day in our great city.

Would it seem too "needy" to get a large group of fans to meet the Davidsons at the airport?

Ok, back in this with the news that Davidson and his wife are in town again.

I know this organization was stunted in the past by having a ultimate power in the hands of one that was the worst type of manager, a micro-manager. We went from that extreme to another with a quiet, assuming and glacial group in power.

But its reached the point where, like the roster and coaching staffs in the past, small moves aren't going to cut it.

The greatest thing this organization can do to put itself on a path of regaining my trust and everyday fandom (not just swinging by to comment on a bad game or big news) is to make a concerted effort to SHOW me they are committed to changing.

Hot liquids and Sharrock out on the concourse talking to STH'ers isn't good enough.

Not landing Davidson won't kill me, but failing to do so doesn't mean they should stop exploring those avenues in the front office.
