IMO Boyle is better offensively and defensively, and pretty clearly the better player here. Boyle is 36, he might start dropping off hard soon, but at the moment he isn't too far off his peak level of play.

Campbell is an elite, dynamic puck mover, but Boyle is a step ahead overall. With Pronger still on LTIR and Lidstrom retired, he's the best playoff performer among d-men in the league now as well.

Boyle easily. Age is truly just a number to him. Shows no signs of decline.

Ponder and JayP182 nailed it.

I still remember the off season where Campbell signed with the Hawks rather than the Sharks and the Sharks signed Boyle. Drew Remenda made a quote along the lines of "Campbell was good, but with the Boyle siging all you will remember is soup".

And he was right.

Boyle...but he's getting old, so perhaps I'd have to think about that again.

Boyle in his prime was better without a doubt.

Boyle and Campbell today are more comparable, but I'd still take Boyle first.

Poll is closer than it should be. Campbell is a great, but Boyle is better.

How many defenseman can get 50+ points in the regular season and maintain that PPG in the post-season?

Got to watch them both on the Sharks at various times, and the answer is Boyle without a doubt.
