I remember when Luongo came in the league playing for the Isles. It was very rare to see the big equipment on goaltenders then. Garth Snow, and Lu had the biggest at the time. I remember thinking ''What the **** man why does this guy have to wear all that equipment? He looks like he's going to combat!''
Lu is ridiculous. Didn't Marty actually have smaller pads/blockers than the league standard? I heard that somewhere.

He usually has. He's upgraded a little bit in the last few years. Up until about 2 years ago though most of his equipment was small. It's probably still smaller than most, but not as small as it was. I can't single anyone out though. They all wear the big equipment now. Jonas Hiller, and our old buddy Jiggy being some of the worst offenders. What do they have in common with Luongo? Francois Allaire. All brought up, and groomed by him.

Big ass equipment all around! I think my stuff (yes I am a goalie) is nhl regulation sized....idr... I play standup though so the bigger pads kind of annoy my movement

Not exactly sure on numbers, but the equipment is supposed to be proportioned to a goaltenders size I think.

So that giant from the Isles that shut the Devils out, and Ben Bishop from Ottawa can all wear bigger equipment than a guy who's shorter than them. Manny Legace wasn't tall at all, and always had the ridiculous equipment for his size.

Jonas Gustavsson the monster five hole can wear the big pads too, but obviously they don't help cause he still sucks!

I think he has an alarm that goes off whenever there is a pro-Devils thread on the main boards. It's uncanny how quickly he shows up to tear down every positive thing about the organisation.

Is she talking about the Devils board in particular, or the main boards?

Well, actually, now that I think about it, she's probably right about both. The TaN might very well be lowering our IQs.

Story of CBA talks.

It's gonna be a big week! We got a meeting late in the week.

Well to update they won't be about economic issues.

Fehr, and Bettman having dinner tonight.

This will be a HUGE week to see what's gonna happen. Could be a turning point.

Was just informed talks will not be about economic issues.

No progress in CBA negotiations.

No further meetings planned.

Patrik Elias notched two goals within forty-five seconds of eachother at the start of Period two, while Alexander Ovechkin scored an assist on a Backstrom goal 13:37 into the second period. A line brawl broke out at the end of the second, sending David Clarkson and Dainius Zubrus off the ice with 10 minute misconducts along with a frustrated Mike Green and Alexander Ovechkin. Halfway through the third period, Ilya Kovalchuk was hooked on a breakaway and was rewarded a penalty shot, and scored to make it 3 to 1 New Jersey. The final knife in the back of the Capitals was when Holtby left the net with 1:32 left in the game, and Adam Henrique scored on the empty net.

Wait, the season already started? Does anyone know if the Rangers actually won the Victoria Cup last week?

Among the players told to secure housing were Devils defenceman Adam Larsson and forwards Jacob Josefson, Adam Henrique and Mattias Tedenby, who all played in the NHL last season. The four players, who are still on NHL entry-level contracts and thus qualify to play in the AHL, are with the Albany Devils.

The roster of the Blue Jacketsí AHL farm team, the Springfield Falcons, includes forwards Ryan Johansen, Cody Bass, Cam Atkinson and Ryan Russell and defencemen Cody Goloubef, John Moore and David Savard, who all spent significant time in the NHL with the Blue Jackets last season.
I suppose we all know what that means. #sadface

Aside from that I agree. I would love a PK personnel of Carter, Gionta, Bernier, Josefson, Henrique, and maybe Zajac, and Elias or Zubrus as forwards on the PK. Very limited time for Kovy. Use the PP for the other guys like him, Clarkson, Tedenby, Butler, and Henrique, Zubrus, and Elias can all get PP time.

Also this lockout is causing us to become united with Rangers fans! Of course there is no hockey, and that's what makes us hate each other right?
With Butler, Tedenby, Parse, and Josefson, I doubt they move one of those guys up. Depending on the game, maybe, but on any given game, they will likely dress:

Kovalchuk-Zajac-Zubrus; Elias-Henrique-Butler/Parse/Tedenby; Butler/Parse/Tedenby-Josefson-Clarkson; Carter-Gionta-Bernier

Bernier could also be included in that group with those three forwards.

Come on guys lighten up we won 4-1! ''Blah blah blah Marty's only goal was a softy blah blah blah blah!!!!!''

We haven't won on opening night in 4 years!

Off to Boston. We haven't beat these guys since last day of the regular season in 2011. At least Tuka is in net, and we beat him last time. Hedberg will be in net too since it's a back to back probably, and he beat them last time.

Anyone up for a post game thread?
