Listening makes me realize just how deep Phoenix is at Defense. Gormley, Ekman-Larsson, Rundblad, Summers, etc.

Not to mention Michalek and Yandle

Tye McGinn scores on a 5 v 3. 4-3 lead for the Phantoms

Is it just me or did Schenn, Couturier and Rinaldo look TOO good for the AHL? It's like there needs to be some league between the NHL and AHL.

I didn't hear the whole game, but no one's saying much outside of Schenn and Couturier. The two guys I'm most excited for up front, aside from the NHL guys both on the scoresheet as well (Harry Z, McGinn).

Here is a photo of Coots after the game. Can see why Saunders and ASF had such trouble identifying players

What line was Rinaldo on?

Edit: Nevermind. I saw it in the OP.

Portland may have some good young talent on the blueline but their goaltending sucks.
They allowed 7 to Manchester last weekend in a preseasn game.

He was on a line with Johnston and Brown. Not sure if that's the 3rd or 4th line. Phantoms had 47 shots, so they all had their chances.

Curious. If anyone actually watched the game, how did Portland's Swedes look? Rundblad and OEL?

It looks like some kids playing EASHL got a hold of the lead design for the Phantoms Jerseys this year

There are. They're called KHL, SEL, SM-liiga, Czech Extraleague and NLA

Other than that, great to see the Phantoms win. But in light of his good play during training camp, how come Heeter didn't start?

I was at the game last night, I'm not a Flyers fan but follow the Phantoms as my "local" team, as we are in the southern Adirondacks a couple of weekends a month, and it was good to watch a game. I'd love to see Glenns Falls keep a franchise when the Phantoms move in 18 months.

Holmgren, Laviolette, and other Flyers senior staff watched the game from a gantry above the crowd. I have a very long distance snap of this on my phone!

Quite an entertaining night, though the play itself looked a little loose/sloppy, Portland were the better team in the first two periods but the Phantoms came on strong in the 3rd aided by Chad Johnson in the Portland net and their physicality.

For Portland I really liked Miele, excellent, very noticeable. Their top rated D was solid until the 3rd with both Summers and Stone taking knocks, taking Summers out for the game.

For the Phantoms Schenn scored a great individual goal, and an easy empty netter but for the rest of the night he seemed a step off the pace of the game, Ford was just ok as was Couturier (based upon expectations) they were up against a good D core though, but they should be able to overcome that. I liked Harry Z, badly mistimed a couple of big checks but I liked his efforts and intensity and can also play the game, a toned down version of Zac with the added ability.

The goalie let in a softie but also stopped a lot of shots through traffic and kept them in the game in the first two periods. Was not too impressed with Syvret but I was with Lauredson (sp) he made some good rushes and should have scored a couple and looked better at the back as the game went along, did not really notice Gustaffson but I guess that's a good thing.

Think the next game we catch is against Albany early November.

They were a one off special, mainly in tribute the the old Adirondack Red Wings, and they auctioned off after the game. The jersey's themselves were ok but it was impossible to read the numbers!

Schenn and Couturier with a decent chance in front... this feed isn't terrible (I bought it through the AHL) but the camera work is god awful, they follow fans in the audience while the game is underway... and random ads...

Schenn and Couturier with a decent shorthanded chance, get a PP out of it.
