Like many have said, I thought Blacker looked pretty bad. I wasn't a huge fan of his last year, but I still think he's got a ton of room to grow.

Kadri was great.

Gardiner is just a treat to watch. I think he's got 60+ point potential in the NHL. I think he's that good.

Colborne was really good IMO. He needs to get a bit faster and a bit stronger so he can drive the net more effectively. He's clearly got a lot of skill, and a ton of potential still. Real smart kid.

Ashton was decent. I think he's still got to fill out his frame a bit more to suit his game at the NHL level. He's got an interesting skill-set.

Scrivens seemed a little shaky but was effective.

Holzer is a very calming presence. Love his game. He'll fill in Schenn's vacant spot very effectively.

What is surprising about Ashton is for a big guy he can really fly. His game is pretty North and south, but he is improving in four way mobility. Team could use frattin back IMO, dont have a true shooter.

Would be nice to pair him with Colborne, as Aucoin - Kadri pretty competent and complement each other well.

Frattin puts this team on a whole other level.

Other than a couple of nice passes, I thought Colborne was average at best. He looked really slow and sluggish, just coasting through the neutral zone mostly. He really needs to step up his intensity level to be a dominant forward.

i dont now if its possible to disagree with you more. perhaps it didnt show well on TV but colborne was finishing checks, backchecking, and working all night.

I think Kadri deserved more than one point today. Hopefully he produces a multi point game tomorrow, and pots a goal

I didn't watch the game so I can't answer the question. Why the McKegg love? Just wondering. It's his name isn't it?

Pretty solid. Was a real puck hound and crashed the net pretty hard. Way more of a complete player than I thought he would be. Wasn't able to make any real nice plays though, just solid overall.

I'm gonna walk down and catch the game tomorrow too. I love living so damn close to Ricoh . Also, paying 10 bucks to see a hockey game isnt half bad either.

I'll take some mental notes and report back tomorrow night. Any guys in particular you guys want me to watch? I'm hoping Ross/Devane get slotted in but after such a solid game tonight, I dont foresee any lineup changes.

Kadri looks like he's out to prove something. I noticed his skating/speed in tonight's game more than I ever have. He was just blowing by people.

Every time Ashton was on the ice the Marlies were in the offensive zone. Mammoth of a player!

...And ohhhh my god. Jake Gardiner. That is all.

From the brief looks I got of Kadri his speed through the neutral zone is much improved. So much for being fat lol.

And to put it absolutely lightly, the kid has the puck on a string. He has the best puck skills in the organization, better than Kessel.

There is no way in hell Morgan Rielly has as good of hands as Nazem Kadri. Not a chance.

It's the inertia. He's so large, once he gets moving, the laws of physics dictate he can't slow down.

I'm a huge Gardiner fan but that might be stretching it. Only like 1-2 guys every year put up 60pts from the blueline. I think he falls more into the 45-50 point range which is still awesome but 60pts in one season is extremely difficult. Hes really talented but I dont believe he has the elite offensive upside like a Doughty, Pietrangelo, Karlsson have.

Blacker getting more shifts and Eakins relying on him even after his mistakes. It seems to be a learning curve now for him to shoulder more minutes. We all know he has the skills.
