Don't worry, the two sides are meeting Wednesday. Although they still aren't discussing economic issues, I'm sure they'll get it sorted out by game time.

These negotiations are being handled by very capable people afterall

There's a game today between the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens.

Or at least there was.

Hey were depressed enough around here do we really need to bring up all the games we're missing? Just the thought of losing the season is hell enough

Gonchar may not come back.

What does our D look like Gonchar-less?

What if we grabbed Boyle or Zybnek for the second RD spot?

The irony of that is we could have gotten Zbynek for cheap but Murray wanted Pittsburgh to take Gonchar's contract back. Now we have a lockout, which also happens to be Gonchar's last year with this contract.

I think it was because Murray has to stay in a budget. If Gonchar doesnt come back we can fill that void.

I am sure Zybnek could be had for a song.

it would certainly be more than a 3rd rounder. Probably more than a 2nd. So we're looking at a 1st. That's totally unreasonable.

When did Gonchar say he might not come back? That would be a pretty big about face from these comments he made a few days ago:

Quote:
"I still have one more year in Ottawa," the 38-year-old said. "So if it’s going to be this year, I’m definitely coming back. And next year I would like to come back and play if I’m healthy and if there’s interest in the NHL for me. I would definitely want to play over there. But at the same time, the KHL is better now than it was and I’m not taking that option off the table, either."
Either way it won't be an issue because there isn't going to be NHL hockey this season.

He was traded for a goalie that is now in our system, a former 3rd rounder that has not signed an agreement with any team and a 3rd round draft pick.

I doubt a 1st would be required.
