I'm pretty sure those were supposed to be prison guards who had suited up BEFORE they were turned, perhaps in response to an initial outbreak in the prison. I think the question you should be asking is - how did all those riot gear guards get turned if their armour was so hard to get past??

Maybe they were all bitten on the hand or something... Although to be honest, I've never read the comics so there may be more to how the mass zombification happens in this particular universe.

That armor is more for protection against blunt-force trauma than infections. All it takes is a scratch. Also since everyone is infected, you don't have to be killed by a zombie, you just have to die.

They don't explain everything in the comics. Kirkman said he'll probably never say how the whole zombie infection started or get too involved in back-story with it because the characters themselves don't know how it happened. They just have to deal with it.

Agreed Neilio. I had the same thought. Number of possibilities:
a) Guard was cut/bitten/scratched, and then put on the armour after for more protection.
b) As demonstrated by how they were dispatched by the cast, the armour has a number of weakpoints that the wearer could be scratched/bitten/clawed that could have infected the wearer to an eventual demise.

can't wait to download the first 8 episodes of the 1st half in December (I cannot stand waiting a week until the next episode)

I was disapointed by the 1st half of the 2nd season and thought the series was going downhill but it really picked up in the 2nd half so here's hoping season 3 is good too

Agreed... I'm a little shocked at how fast they are progressing the story along. For the record I am not complaining just surprised at the change of pace in story considering the first 2 seasons

They're at the right pace now for sure. It's also nice to see that even though it's following the comics, things are different. For guys like me that read a bunch of the comics it's nice, I'm still getting surprised.

Is it 4 already? Woops.

Ya I agree and no complaints from me either. Last season it was just a cliff hanger happening right at the end making sure you'd catch the next episode where you'd rinse and repeat the cycle. (the pace picked up near the end though.)

i'm really trying hard not to be one of "those guys", in regards to changes from the comic book.... BUT.... haven't you noticed that literally *every* change they have made from the comic book has been a change for the worse? whenever they do something that has the same outcome, but happened differently in the comic, i ask myself which version would have been better on the screen... each and every time the comic book comes out on top

last nights episode was a perfect example... the comic book death of the characters is more random and shows how a zombie apocalypse would actually be, but last nights death was just overly-dramatic and just TOO OBVIOUSLY a writers effort at generating empathy for a character everybody hated

the tv show is good, but every time they change something, they make it worse

Gut wrenching episode.
I know that just about everybody wanted Lori gone including myself but the way they killed her off was brutal and when they flashed back to the Carl and Rick conversation in the barn, that tugged on my heart and i felt bad that Carl was going to lose his mother.
This season has been nothing short of amazing which is great to see after a disappointing Season 2.

She was nasty. Sucks to lose T-Dog though.

Definitely sucks to lose T-Dog. And the way he went down was nasty. At least they replaced him with another huge nasty black guy and they gained a mechanics expert to help them push forward.

Was not sad to Lori pass on. Big irritant for me.

On another note, I have a feeling they will have a run-in soon with the Governor and his band of reknown.

I felt T-Dog was a red-shirt for most of this series. Surprised it wasn't Merle who killed him.

It's funny that they kill off T-Dogg right after they finally gave him a defined role (him taking the stance of allowing the prisoners to be a part of the group) but they replaced him about 5 minutes later with the next token black guy so it's all good.

He pulled a Dale for sure.

Decides to speak up and be Rick's conscience and suddenly zombie chow.

I missed the first 10 minutes of last nights episode so suddenly I'm seeing tons of walkers in a carefully enclosed jail compound..

What happened? Was this revealed because without that it seemed like a plot device for more cowboys kill zombies scenes.

This seems like an entirely different series than last season. Last year they went entire plot/character development. This year unless you're familiar with the comic books its kind of harder to follow.

I kind of feel like I'm supposed to know more about Michonne, the Governer, etc. Kind of strange stuff too. I can't figure out whey the Governer lets some people live while he assasinates people that would be particularly useful. I mean they're guarding what is becoming a self contained town and he kills a bunch of soldiers instead of incorporating them? Doesn't make a lot of sense. Again seems like I'm missing something here.
