Ennis is hurt in Switzerland according to the Europe thread, but dunno what/how long. He's missed a few games though.

Unfortunate for Tropp. That's a huge hit for Rochester.

The worst scenario for #Amerks RW Corey Tropp: damage to ACL and MCL in right knee. Surgery will end his season. "Yeah, it sucks," he said.
Ouch...

Yikes. The Tropp injury sucks. This year would have been big for his development I think.

Any word on Ennis?

That's the worst. Could've been a huge year for Tropp, playing top line minutes with CoHo. It's gonna suck trying to find a replacement for him too.

Not only that, but the possible disruption if/when the lockout ends. He was the straw that stirred the Vanek-Hodgson drink last year. This cuts in many ways.

I just hope this doesn't Denis Hamel him. I dig the Milk Bag tag, though.

Is there any freaking way we could get Gerbe back in the AHL? He would be a perfect fit after the Tropp injury.

Would, but he's already got a few seasons with the Sabres under his belt, plus parts of 2 seasons with Portland when Buffalo was its top affiliate.

As the AHL player eligibility rules state, 12 players on a team's roster cannot have exceeded 260 games as a professional, while a 13th cannot exceed 320 games as a pro. Gerbe meets the latter criteria(barely), but not the former.

That said, he can't get sent down during the lockout.

Gerbe would have had to pass through waivers prior to the lockout...which was pretty much not going to happen.

The Tropp injury is just the hockey gods making us pay for having the wrong Corey.
We should have traded Tropp + 1st +++ to Ottawa at the draft for negotiating rights to Corey Locke.
Darcy asleep at the wheel again!

In all seriousness, this is terrible for Tropp.
Losing a whole year of development at any time is terrible, but when you're right on the cusp of breaking into the NHL it's even worse.
I hope he makes a full recovery but he may get lost in the depth chart now.

put [ YT ] at the beginning, just the letters after v= in the middle, and [ /YT ] at the end. No spaces.

I agree a dirty play and he knew what he was doing as he tried it again later on CoHo.

It will continue to happen as these fringe AHLers will target the NHL prospects.

Hopefully this is the only longterm injury any of our guys suffer. Sucks that it had to be a guy so high up in the organizational depth chart. I thought he was gonna be one of the guys to really benefit from a big role in the AHL this season, alongside Hodgson.
