He will be out at least a week. Hopefully back against Atlant next Monday.

SKA are now saying that he does not have a concussion and was only left out today as a precaution. He will be considered for selection tomorrow.

Bit of a change of what was being reported yesterday.

Maybe it makes me selfish, but oh well...I hope they shut him down for the week and run every test there is.

Actually getting hit in the jaw is one of the easiest ways to get a concussion. It's more about how hard the brain is jarred then where the impact is, and since the jaw is connected directly to the skull it makes for a very dangerous place to get hit. Hopefully in Tarasenko's case he's just rattled a bit and makes a quick full recovery.

^^ This ^^

People from Macoupin County have a great deal of common sense.

Whether he misses 1 game or 10 games, we are going to wonder if they brought him back too early. SKA won comfortably yesterday, and they have a game at home against a terrible road team (1-0-0-7) today... so I don't think we have to worry about him being rushed back for this game.

I think him playing for SKA worked out well in this case. They are a good team and they do not need him to win games. Also kovy is probably an even easier player to market than tarasenko, so really if he needs time of he can get it. Partially evident from him held out of the line up today.

The first diagnosis of light concussion was not confirmed. Taras will play today against his home team Sibir.
One of the leaders of the West - SKA, which is one of the most rich teams in KHL, will play against one of the leaders of the East - Sibir, one of the most poor teams.
Last game Sibir defeated Dinamo Moscow, the Gagarin Cup winner and current leader of the KHL

That's a new one.

Anyway, I'm apprehensive about the game today. Hopefully Tarasenko isn't being pushed (or pushing himself) to play before he's ready.

SKA won't be pushing him, but he might be pushing himself because with the current NHL situation, this could be the last time he plays against Sibir.

I'll trust SKA here, they say the tests for a concussion proved negative and still sat him for a couple of games.

Definitely Taras is not being pushed. I'm sure it will be special game for him against the team where he played all his life. His father is assistant coach of Sibir

Scrappy first period. Not much from Tarasenko, except for a nice move in front of the net after a few minutes of play, but couldn't get his shot away.

An assist from Tarasenko. Draws a penalty, instantly back up to pass it off to Kovalchuk who scores from a tight angle.

I thought our PP was frustrating, Sibir in this period is probably the worst PP I have ever seen. Since going 2-0 down they have had 8 minutes and created next to nothing. I think they had about a 90 second spell where they couldn't even get the puck into the SKA zone.

2-0 final. He had a decent game, was probably a little too desperate to score because he really should have passed a couple of times on the PP with about 5 minutes left. Sibir looked like headless chickens when they had the puck in the SKA zone, solid defensively, if a little panicked at times.

Edit: Tarasenko's stat line is now 6-6-12 in his 7 official games. Missed 3 periods in those games though.

The SKA game against Atlant has just started. Nikolai Lemtyugov is playing for Atlant (8-2-10 in 19 games this season).

Tarasenko just got hit along the boards in a semi-dirty way and Kovalchuk and Tikhonov went after the guy; Kovalachuk got matching minors with the Atlant player.

Defensive lapse leads to a PP tap-in for Tarasenko.

Did he get up and return to play? And are people targeting him specifically?

Edit: phone typing is slow

Sure, there are more good defensemen in NHL, but Tarasenko is very good with a puck. And he has very good body, scating and wrist shot - I think, even NHL level defense will have big problems with him.
