If even 2 of Baertschi, Jankow, Gaudreau, Reinhart or Granlund hit their ceilings which is probable, and the Flames have success in signing one high profile FA, then I think the direction we are moving towards is fine and we will remain competitive for quite some time.
I guess it depends on what you consider "competitive" is.
If they remain at their present level of success, I don't consider that acceptable.
And if their plan is simply to "draft better", I believe every team has the same plan, more or less. It's just that som,e of them complment that with trying to improve draft position.
I agree that the Flames ownership group gives us reason for hope.
ASSUMING we do lose Iginla, I would say Giordano or Tanguay. Maybe Jackman?
Glencross and Giordano have the longest running time with the team. Tanguay was with the team before anyone else on the roster, but left for two years. All three of them have four years on the roster.
So if that's your criteria, Tanguay.
Gio, Glencross, and Bouwmeester are all 29.
If what you want is a "captain of the future", give it to Matt Stajan. He's only 28.
i really couldnt care less... i cant stand him and im probably the only flames fan who does, but honestly i would take cammy, tangs, gio, kipper, and glencross over him in a heartbeat

You are alone.
You would take those players over him in a heartbeat? You sir, are a fool.
Best case scenario if iggy wants gone is to sign him to a 2 year contract and trade him to a contender in the next trade deadline . I hope he doesn't sign elsewhere next offseason because then were pretty much screwed
