I'm sure there will be some tweeking but if they agree in principle to it, it'll be amazing.

This is great news, anxiously waiting for Fehr to address the media.

The NHL completely turned this back onto the players. If they don't accept a 50/50 the players will be hated and everyone will turn on them. They just showed a HUGE amount of willingness to get things done, Fehr better be ready to accept this and get the ball rolling.

Awards:
If this is really the offer:

1) I see no way the players can turn this down.

2) I don't see why it took so long to get this offer on the table.

@ChrisBottaNHL: The real headline. RT @FriedgeHNIC - Bettman will not go into how escrow would work.

Do people have more details than I do? I've heard very little of this offer except that it's 50/50.

Season would start on 11/2 for an 82 game year.

Bettman wouldn't comment on Escrow.

I'm sure Fehr will describe to us in detail how much it sucks in 15 minutes. Then Walsh will compare it to the Halocaust.

Yeah, I would need to hear a lot more details before we can say if there is enough basis for negotiations, much less if it's something the PA should accept.

You are right, I'm not playing a sport, or on a team... but these are grown men who are professionals & have a right to some privacy. They can do their team buliding stuff on off days, dinners, etc... but I think they have the right to have some down time away from their JOB just as much as anyone else does.

BTW, I'm in financial reporting, I dont sell printers.

Time to just sit back and wait for Fehr to spin this.

We need to get Bettman and Fehr on the O'Reilly Factor so they can enter the "no spin zone"

Obviously, pending hearing more details you have to think the plyaers will reject this.

Immediately dropping to 50% would "allow owners to get out from existing contracts" and "not honor them in full" would it not?

Personally I think it is more than fair, but I am not sold on the PA buying it.

The Pa will reject it. Now the only thing I see being a problem is the immediate jump to 50/50. There is definitely a deal to be made here tho. All they need to do is figure out how to phase it to 50/50 and we're golden!

I'd like to see contract changes in exchange for escrow protections. Room for compromise.

Well there's no rollback, but Bettman said nothing about the escrow. 50% does not in itself mean that.
