It's a significant step forward in negotiations and we have to hope that the PA doesn't drop the ball (puck), or that the offer doesn't actually include a lot of stuff that the NHLPA will find objectionable but that we aren't told about
i'm excited! this is a big move. i don't think it will be the last, but it means they are serious about negotiating. the PA may look like the *******s if they decline, but i guarantee there are some smaller details that the players want to address.
logically they wipe the ASG weekend off the schedule to keep the full 82 w/o overloading the schedule, BUT if they have to adjust the schedule significantly this means a lot for our team. it means biron playing a lot more often and lundqvist (as well as our entire team) having a much bigger impact from injuries and rest. def scares me.
Squeezing in an 82-game season is a plus financially for the players. They don't get punished financially for lost games.
Obviously yes, they still will see some kind of impact with the rest of the proposal. But it's a good step.

Leave all that **** the same, cap contracts at 7 years and make some rules limiting the drop in salary and how it can affect the cap hit, and call it good
gotta figure this is pretty much the last chance to save the season.
I reckon that the league would listen to requests from the players to make adjustments on the offer. But if this offer gets rejected out-of-hand, i think we can kiss the season goodbye. This is the basic structure of a final agreement or we lose a season again.
i hope they get it done. losing a season now would really be bad. i'm already starting not to care.
NHL increased revenue sharing by $10M. PA is at $240M. NHL wanted 5 year ELCs. Not all of the years were guaranteed. They wanted to dump salary arb. PA wants to dump walk away rights. NHL wanted free agency at 30 from 7 or 27. Now they want 8 AND 28. Can they compromise at 8 OR 28? The NBA went from 57 to 51.5 in the first year. 10% cap on escrow. Brooks proposed a 5% cap.
