how in the hell is gagner's faceoff% on the PP *worse* than at ES? lol... its 47.9% at ES btw... that is something else, can't be too common

I played hockey at a high level for 9 years. I will tell you that even strength yes, screening is the best thing you can do in front of the net.

But on a PP.. Have you ever had a man stand RIGHT behind your peripherals? I know I have scored on many a goalie on the PP in that exact spot Hall chooses. It definitely ****s with goalies because they are cheating to cover you and always looking back thinking "where is this *******?"

If you don't have someone screening a point shot, chances are you aren't going to beat an NHL goaltender or even get a rebound. Shots to the side of the net or the slot with puck movement are a different story.

If you want to have Justin Schultz shooting on your powerplay, you need someone screening the goaltender. Unless he puts on a lot of weight, I don't want that to be Taylor Hall and his bum shoulder.

Tell Luongo that!
But either way I'd rather #94 in front and taking faceoffs over #10 any day if we are utilizing point shots.

You don't "need" Smyth in front to be anything more then "meat" who can take up space and take a beating. The player in front on this Oilers PP exists Solely to take up a defender and space, so when you Really think about it, puck possession is far more important, as both will be ask to do the same thing, take up space and take a beating while the players with actual skill make things happen.

As for where Yakupov fits? IMO, to start, it's on the second unit and as the other point shot on a 5 on 3.

The kid is ridiculous, Nail will get his, no matter where he's put.

Makes perfect sense to me. It's crucial to win the draw on the PK so you're going to have your better faceoff guys taking the draw. Send Gags out to take 10 faceoffs against Belanger and 10 against Nuge and see who he wins more against

Yes, the KHL and NHL have a transfer agreement now and they would respect the NHL contract of Nail.

Yeah, the KHL website was a little misleading. It looked like he played today, but it's tomorrow morning.

It sucks that klefbom is injured, the SEL seems to play with a little more consistent schedule than the KHL and AHL.

I'll already be at work...Growing up sucks lol.

When I was 17 I quit my job so I could easily stay up all night to watch Gagner in the super series. Good times...

Do you deliver the newspaper?

I'm hoping to catch most of the game but I need to be outta here by 8:30. I've only seen one Barons game, one of Yakupov's games, and highlights, so I'm excited to watch some hockey.

Looks like the NHL won't be settling any time soon, it will be good for Yak to play in the KHL, will allow him to get use to the faster game and stronger men.

Hmm. I should get home from work around 5am I think I'll stay up a little later and catch the game, I need some hockey. If I'm alert enough to pay close attention I'll definitely post my thoughts.
