Amerks on the PK. The previous PP looked pretty bad...

How do you think Adam played? It seemed like he coughed up the puck every time he had possession.

Overall, the team played really sloppy today. I didn't watch the two games before this, so I can't really compare, but they need to connect on their passes and tighten up their D.

Worst player on the ice. How did this guy win roy? I don't see it. I don't even see flashes.

The only players who may have been worse were McNabb and Brennan.

I agree with you about Brennan (and Adam, obviously). I thought McNabb was adequate.
Brennan is a -3 in 3 games. Need more from the veteran alternate captain.
Even Sundher had more shots on goal than Adam tonight.

Luke Adam is really bad, like really really bad. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that he probably needs to be sent to the E for a month or so to get back to basics. The AHL game is over his head right now.

At the very least, he needs to sit out a game or two. He was flat out embarrassing tonight.

Yeah, I agree on Adam. I wouldn't send him out on the PK either and Rolston did that too; end result, a GA.

Brennan, Hodgson and McNabb had one PP sequence where they threw like six or seven shots towards Lehner (some were blocked, others wide), but other than that, they were very average at best. Brennan in particular had another turnover that nearly wound up in the back of the net, except Leggio made two one-on-one saves to bail him out.

Early in the 3rd period my friend turned to me and said, "What happened to Luke Adam from the first 20 games last season?"

Good question. He's just..... awful. Terrible. Looks out of his league in the minors right now. It's disturbing.

Anyway, rough loss tonight. They played with some hustle, I thought, but didn't generate any second chances. Their passes were unbelievably sloppy. The team has no chemistry whatsoever. Talented, for sure, but no execution at all.

Still was a fun game though, just seeing all the future stars. At one point the Sens had B-Jad, Silvferberg, Cowen, and Wiercoch on the ice. I said, "In 3 years, we're going to hate every single player on the ice right now."

McNabb, Foligno, Sundher, Adam, Hodgson, Pysyk, Brennan, Girgs, etc. Awesome to see the future on the ice.

Hodgson looked slow, to be honest. His hockey IQ and passing is top notch though, but he really needs to work on his speed.

Girgs looked pretty good for an pro-rookie.

He did. However, he had a really strong back check when we allowed the 2-on-0 on the PP in the 2nd or 3rd I believe. Hustled hard for that one.

Also, his "slowness" is overrated. There was one play where he just went right up the middle on the defense from the red line down to in between the circles and got a nice shot away.

He's definitely not the fastest guy, but I don't watch him and say, "Man, he's slow!!"

Foligno-- Has been about how you'd expect him to, ie: hitting, scoring. Was a little lazy on the PK the other day, but otherwise good. I really wish they'd put him on Hodgson's wing with Tropp out. Would replace his physicality/hustle, and the few shifts they've had together, I think they've looked really good.
Hodgson-- foot speed is still a problem at times, but the vision, playmaking is still there. Not sure if it's because AHL competition is weaker or because he got stronger, but he seems like he's being more of a physical factor this year than last so far. Has had a couple nice hits.
McNabb-- I think his skating looks a bit improved from last year. Seems like he's been solid defensively so far. Not much offense from him yet though.
Pysyk-- As advertised. Incredibly smooth and smart out there. Very strong positionally, moves the puck up ice really well. Kid looks like, a couple years from now, he'll be the kind of player advanced stat geeks love. Very impressed with him so far.
Girgensons-- Has looked (perhaps surprisingly?) not out of place as an 18yo jumping from the USHL to the pros. Didn't do much the first game, but had a real strong 2nd game, where he had a couple nice scoring chances and made some very nice defensive plays. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of him as the year goes on.

As I said, his brain is there, but his feet aren't yet.

Well, it's mainly his acceleration. Once he's going, his speed isn't bad.

Agree with this completely. First noticed it in the last game last season against NYR. Hodgson was playing on one of the PK units and created a couple nice SH breaks for himself, because he had time to wind up and get his feet moving before he took the puck. Once he gets going his speed is fine, he just doesn't reach his top speed nearly as quickly as he maybe should.
