KHL Stats Leafs Players *add* NHL players discussion

Time for a KHL Leafs perspective update.

Grabo not doing so well:

7GP 2G 1A 3Pts despite being on the strong CSKA team

Looks like he can't score consistently in the KHL either.

In comparison Datsyuk, 8GP 10 Pts.

Nik Kulemin, a little better but modest stats for Metallurg .

10GP 3G 2A 5Pts

In comparison Malkin 11GP 11 Pts.

Do we have many players just not doing anything? Sitting at home stuffing their gob with donuts and beer?

Prediction. This thread will have 200 post by days end.

Because they both prefer the NHL and North America, obviously!

I haven't watched any KHL games at all so I wouldn't know how well either have played. Statistically though I do think Grabovski should be doing far better, while Kulemin is about on par as to what he usually accumulates.

Who cares, as long as they put up points in the NHL. I'm not worried about Grabo at all. I remember the year he scored 29 goals, he didn't score 1 until his like 16th game.

Radulov of the NHL familiar players has 19pts in 16games. Kovalchuk is on fire alright.

Kulemin leads his team in +/-, and has recently been playing with Malkin. Set up Malkin for the winning goal last game.

OT: Kuznetsov, Caps prospect has 15 points in 14 games.

Did you just seriously compare Grabovksi and Kulemin to Datsyuk and Malkin??

I know you like Kuznetsov. Kule is always going to do well in the + - stats. He is underrated defensively even on this board.

Nail Yakupov has 5 goals, 7 pts in 7 games and is +1. Very solid for a 18 year old player. Ovechkin 11Pts 11GP, pretty much par for the course for the Nhl'ers.

Grabo always starts slowly. I assume he'll pick it up. In Toronto he's been here for what 4 seasons now. He knows the team in and out. It's usually not an easy transition to go from one team to another in a short amount of time and get comfortable and productive right away.

You can tell the players who have heart and just want to play.

These are the guys you want, players that love the game and seek out opportunities to play.

E. Kane - 0 points in 4 games

Bryzgalov - 0.897 save percentage, 3.01 gaa

Malkin only has 11 points in 11 games? Malkin won the scoring race last year in the NHL and someone he beat has 17 points in 9 games. Has Malkin lost his scoring touch? What's going on? He scored at a better pace last year in the NHL, he should have more points.

Thornton only has 5 points in his last 9 games played. This is in the less competitive Swiss league.

You can tell where Radulov's heart is, he celebrated a goal this year with more enthusiasm than he did for Nashville the entire playoffs last year.

Is this the same team Suter dumped as soon as he could? The team Weber signed a contract with the Flyers to get away from?

Geez, what's going on in Nashville?

It's the typical season start for Grabo, TBH. He may as well play in the KHL for the first month or two (and the last month or two) of every season, and we wouldn't really be missing much. Should the lockout continue, I'm sure he'll start hitting his stride in a month or so.

As for Kulie, numbers look good if he's not playing on Malkin's line, otherwise, 0.5 PPG when you have a PPG linemate is a bit sub par.

A bit OT, but did anyone else when they saw KHL highlights on TSN's play of the day reels?

If you compare 2nd liners to two of the best players in the world, should you expect to be anything other than disappointed?

No one was comparing 2nd liners to 1st liners BTW, context is a wonderful thing. I don't think anyone would call Radulov a 1st liner in the NHL, yet he is doing very well in his league.

As for Kule, he is +5, if he is playing with Malkin, I would have expected he produced better, but overall can't be too dissapointed. Both Leafs players are averaging 18 plus mins a game.

Makes you wish there was a hidden camera recording Weber's reaction when he found out the Preds matched the offersheet, doesn't it?

He had to have assumed they would match and he would be staying there. Even if he was(is) too dumb to consider this, his Agent would have given him some warning.

Grabovski+Kulemin for Yakupov

But seriously, I'd love to have Yakupov play for the leafs. He has a lot of upside and is playing really well in the KHL.

Graovski is still a big part of his team. I see him all the time in the highlights, same with Kulemin. Just because they aren't putting up the numbers, doesn't mean squat.

Oh wait.. KHL, no one plays defense.. nevermind.

Man, Boone Jenner is outscoring Grabovski and Boone is in junior. We should definitely do that deal huh Interactif?

Maybe spending the next 14 years on the Preds was his dream come true. Either way, he'll have to cry himself to sleep on top of a pile of money every night for the remainder of that contract.

That's true, but look on the bright side Grabs is outscoring Crosby, and Kulemin has more goals than Stamkos at this point in time. So its not all bad !!!.

You wouldn`t compare Grabovski to Datsyuk in the KHL or the NHL any more than you would Kulemin to Malkin, unless the comparison in not the true intent.

Looks like the caps found Semins replacement.

FWIW: NHL scouts consider Kuznetsov the #1 ranked prospect outside the NHL in their latest Hockey News top 50 prospects ranking.

Washington stole him #26th overall in 2010 as teams that are unafraid to draft Russians pass on talent in the entry draft. Similarly how Leafs got Kulemin in the 2nd due to his birth certificate, and falling out of the 1st round on his talent.

He potentially could be far better in the NHL than Grabs or Kulemin and might even become an elite NHLer statistically like Datsyuk or Malkin..

An OV -- Backstrom -- Kuznetsov top line might soon become the NHL's most dangerous trio in time.
