His first game was not that great. He had a hard time hanging on to the puck and was knocked down fairly easily. He tried a few too many cute passes.

His second game was much better. Not only did he have an assist but he also was very strong defensively. He backchecked, stripped guys of pucks, and made great plays.

His hockey IQ is so great that it's just going to take some time for him to adapt. His line is only going to get better...

Man. The 'your face when Wild(lol)' thread was awesome. When we signed Parise and Suter I posted this:

Then after a page of awesome replies an Avs fan reported it and it was deleted. That upset me.

10. Mikael Granlund, C, Minnesota Wild
Height: 5-10, Weight: 180, Spring ranking – 9

Granlund finally made the commitment to cross the Atlantic and join the NHL ranks just in time for the breakdown in labor talks to delay the NHL debut of his considerable talent. Long considered one of hockey’s top prospects, Granlund will eventually add dynamic and creative offense to the Minnesota lineup. Although some have criticized Granlund for being too slow, too small, or simply too fragile, the truth is that although he may be limited in some physical aspects, he is one of the most electrifying players in the world and will quickly become a fan favorite in the twin cities and beyond. Granlund will begin the season in the AHL, where in his first exhibition game action for Houston he posted four goals and an assist. That performance is only a sign of things to come for the young Finnish phenom.

Plus, I'd like to point out that the article is from HF. They have never had good rankings. They make rankings to get people to talk about them. Even though they have a great message board, their wont for more viewers alienates the ones that read the articles.

It bugs me that it's effectively troll baiting, though. Over-rate X player and under-rate Y player just to "spark debate" that inevitably turns into Canadian team A vs everyone else.

You can see little bit of frustration in Granlund's game because his linemates can't score from his feedings. Maybe he should start to shoot more himself?

Well let's hope Zucker comes back soon so there is goalscorer in first line.

For me it seemed like he was frustrated because his line turned it over often before he even touched the puck. I didn't always see what defensive pair played behind the first line but their opening passes were often horrendous. Also, both Coyle and Larsson didn't make it easy to play puck control-game. He is used to the fact that his linemates can't finish his plays, he's played with Finns all his life

The guy is just a PP beast in the right face-off dot. Passing and shooting.

And tell me if I'm wrong, but I saw the highlight video with the Bulmer fight, and to me it didn't even look like Bulmer tried to fight or wanted to fight back. So seeing comments and articles saying that he was manhandled seems a bit misleading, no?

i have zero doubt bulmer was yakking and sneaking in cheap shots here or there, but the incident that lead to him getting spanked didn't look remotely his fault. he was shoved into schultz to kick that one off...

two NHL defensemen?

edit: and i totally called the "targetting" thing earlier this year specifically with Edmonton. They disagreed and said it wouldn't be a problem.
