how exactly do you justify having Phx drafting at #3 overall? If Mike Smith plays anywhere near what he did last year they will be in, or very close to, the playoffs, even with Vrbata and Whitney regressing

I do think Mike Smith can keep up his level of play, but Whitney won't be "regressing" he's not even on the team anymore. He was their top scorer. Florida had high picks years ago while Luongo was 1 of the best goalies as well.
I want the Blues to move up in the draft so badly. If we could snag Drouin or Pulock, oh would that make me happy. But, it looks like a dream as of now.

Very surprised you left out Robert Hagg? He should be a top 10-15 pick.
Good move coming to the OHL to show more dedication to playing in North America, but still there will always be the russian factor. His size is a big concern too. Probably be a 2nd-3rd rounder. I would expect Tampa Bay to draft him too.

my best guess....Columbus will really clean house at this coming draft!
Well of course they'll grab a winger or a d-man if a better center isn't available.
I'd say they are missing a true #1 goalie and true #1 center. With Phaneuf and Rielly they've got aruably two #1 d-men.
Why don't we wait for Rielly to actually make the NHL before calling him a #1 defenseman?
I get that he could become one, but he sure as hell isn't now.

Doubt we finish 5th, but I'd be ecstatic to get Pulock. I'd definitely want to move up and try to snag Jones, though. He's exactly what we need and a hometown kid to boot.
Lindholm will go higher than 11, IMO he might even be top 5 at this moment. This kid will be a nr 1 center in the NHL and I can see Toronto pick this guy.

mock drafts that i have seen have Dallas picking anywhere from 5 to 11 so who knows until the NHL actually starts and we play some actual games? and trying to move up to get Seth Jones is a good thought but i doubt any team picking #2 would be crazy enough to trade him away for a prospect or player and the Stars 1st rounder, which is probably what it would take, especially if there is a chance for Jones to be a #1 d-man, which is something a lot of teams seem to be looking pretty hard for these days.

he likely will....i just based my opinion on the fact that Jonathan Drouin is highly regarded and got off to a hot start in junior and will likely go high as well as what happened last year when teams went on a run of d-men at the draft between picks 4 to 10 and guys like Lindholm, Pouliot and Koekkoek went much higher than they were apparently ranked and forwards like Forsberg, Greigorenko and Faksa went lower than expected. if teams start seeing the top d-men dissapearing early and start picking more of them higher than expected, then it's possible that Lindholm could drop a little, though there seems to be a drop off after Jones, Ristolainen and Pulock, at least at this point in time.

You're probably right. Anyway, can't wait until the draft. The best time of the year for sure!

I was basing it on Rielly's potential of course. Just stating that I don't think defense is a big need for Toronto, but of course would take one if the BPA was clearly a d-man.

If the habs take Shinkaruk over Monahan, Lazar, Pulock, Risto, Drouin and Lindholm
I'll seriously die.
We don't need another center in Montreal we have enough as it is, and we are so stacked on defense prospects it's crazy. We really need to draft a true 1st line winger. My guess is that you've never seen Shinkaruk play.
