After his 1st game Nikitin impressed the Avangard's coaching staff (their new coach is from Finland), was moved to the 1st defensive pair and got groin injury in his 2nd game.

He's centering the 2nd line, Plotnikov and Viktor Kozlov were his partners the last game. 4 assists in 6 games so far, all of them are wins for Loko.
On the Russian national team depth chart Anisimov is pencilled to the 3rd line at center just behind Datsyuk and Malkin.

BTW. Bobrovsky was in net for the SKA St.Peterburgh when Yakupov scored two regulation time and one SO goals. SKA lost in the SO 2:3, Kovalchuk and Tarasenko scored for them. Bob already played 2 games with SV% 0.927. I won't mind if he keeps it up in Columbus.

My big question.

This is the last year of Bobrovsky's deal. If the season is lost due to the lockout, does he come back to NA next year or does he stay in the KHL?

If we lose him to the KHL due to the lockout without ever having played a game in Columbus, I'm a bit upset. Mason is in the last year of his deal so we could have a lost season and have no goalies next year.

With a lockout, I don't think the contract year counts, as the players aren't currently being paid.

In 2004-05, the players lost a year off their contract in addition to not being paid. I believe this is negotiable though and depends on whatever the CBA is that they finally agree to.

Bob seemed pretty gung ho about the chance to be a #1 starter in the NHL in the post-trade interviews. I think he'll come back.

Anisimov is in the same situation. (RFA at the end of the year). Not as sure about him.

I'd be upset about Bob not playing next season and this is also the last year of Allen York's deal, although he was injured in Falcons training camp. I'm not too upset about Mason though. In fact, I'm quite thrilled that we may have already seen his final CBJ game.

I think Howson still has a bit of a crush on Mason. If he can't return anything in a trade, I think he'll be re-signed. Howson's rationale would be that he doesn't want to "lose Mason for nothing."

I hope you're wrong about that. If the lockout doesn't affect expiring contracts, causing us to lose all our goalies, I wouldn't mind signing an UFA like Jimmy Howard or possibly Khudobin (or both) to play in net for 2013.

Does he/she know Anisimov personally? Or was this reported in the Russian media? Because if he/she is just saying that with no links/backstory/credibility, I wouldn't believe it. Anisimov sounded pretty excited about the CBJ when he was here.

I rank that right up there with every hockey player wanting to play in Toronto. I'm not going to give any consideration to hearsay. Especially with the source(s). I appreciate Eva saying that she has no idea if it's true, but it's a friend of a poster.

Dubinsky is listed as a defenseman on Alaska's roster, but it looks like he's skating forward in the game I'm watching online. I wonder what's going on there...

Avangard played 9 games without Nikitin and they were 3-6 to start the season. Since Nikitin arrived they're 9-1 in 10 games. He has only 2 assists, but leads the team in ice-time every game except the one when he injured his groin. Tonight Nikitin got his 2nd assist when Avangard scored shorthanded game-tying goal with 4 seconds to play and skated 25+ minutes. They've won in SO.
BTW my hometown team just signed Joe Pavelski. They suck with Rinne in net, I doubt Pavelski is gonna help them anyhow.

He's suggested as much, although it may not necessarily be coaching per se. Some manner of NHL office job.
