It's another game now, but at the time it was the third period of the Chekhov game.

edit: I think it might be the Ak-Bars game. In that case, is Emelin playing perhaps?

second edit: Yup, he's playing. #86 I believe. Vs Chara and friends.

#Habs Andrei Markov will play his 6th game w/ KHL's Vityaz Chekhov today. He's averaging 19:04 TOI through 5 games

(as per Dave Stubbs)

Not bad, should put some worry about his knee to rest. Should. Probably won't though.

How has he played though? The 12 games we saw from him last season were anything but reassuring.

He doesn't have great stats. Has he lost his offensive game ?

I think it's more likely that he has no ties to the team he's playing for - plus keeping half an eye on all the lockout news has to be distracting.

I'm thinking lack of motivation over anything else.

Lack of motivation is dangerous when you compete against other guys for whom KHL is their bread and butter.

Or maybe he's using the KHL as part of his training regimen and going through the motions without taking too much risk (i.e. pinching, offensive work, physicality) to make sure his knee is in tip-top shape for the NHL year?

That's what I assume.

I'm really not worried about him only having 1 point in 5 games.

Pacioretty had 1 goal in 8 games in the NLA, yet no one seems to be panicking.

He's playing for a terrible team and what I saw in his first few games that I watched he was playing a fairly conservative game. Vityaz has a very bad defense and he was focusing on defending.

I saw nothing wrong with his skating, but he wasn't exactly rushing with the puck either.

On the other hand, Emelin had a great game for Ak-Bars as they beat CSKA (Radulov, Datsyuk, Grabovski)

As the other poster said, Markov has no support on Vityaz, the team his sub-par and the only offensive option is Alexander Korulyuk

Was it alarming though ? I remember that game against Vancouver, that reassured me.

He wasn't very good overall, but he wasn't completely lost which is as good as you are going to get when you miss that much time; why I never will understand why people wanted him to sit the rest of the year out.

Markov might stay in Russia even after lockout ends

Hmmm....

David Arsenault @ArsenaultRDS:
#Hockey360 à 18h30: Andreï Markov pourrait rester en Russie, même si le lock-out dans la LNH prend fin sous peu. #EntrevueExclusive

I'm sure he might. I might make the Habs this year.

Although the loyalty the Habs have shown him in the last few years of injuries should be enough (along with his contract) to assure he comes back.

The KHL-NHL agreement is clear. The contracts signed will be respected by the other league. Markov is signed with an NHL club.

This sounds like a classic sketchy RDS story to me. Or Markov doesn't know the rules.

The only way he stays there is if he retires from hockey

Pretty much.

Or he can stay in Russia, he just won't be able to play in the KHL.

And he'll be suspended by the Habs for breach of contract and most likely by the IIHF as a result, so he won't be playing for Russia in any IIHF event.

I still say this is a RDS misunderstanding or Markov simply doesn't know about the KHL-NHL agreement to respect each other's deals.

There is no way this is serious, He is literally not allowed to play in the KHL after the lockout.

Conchar Ovechkin and some other Russians said the same thing, this is just a matter of putting some pressure on Bettman..
