People in Toronto actually don't care about the Canucks or consider them a rival, it's a thing only the Canucks fans care about. Personally speaking I have nothing against the Canucks or the city of Vancouver.
Last year when Toronto FC was playing the Vancouver White Caps during their first ever MLS game in Vancouver their fans started to chant "Leafs Suck" and this was during a Soccer game. So doesn't that seem very extereme of the people from Vancouver?
This is something some Torontonians like to claim, and some perhaps do feel. But if there was no hate there wouldn't be swarms of Leafs fans voting against Canuck players in polls, cheering for them to lose in the playoffs etc. I find it funny hearing people from Toronto claiming it stems from people on the westcoast being envious of them or wanting to prove something.. Prove what? In what way is Toronto superior exactly? You are the least successful major sports city in all of North America. Every single team you have is unfortunately terrible.
I actually used to support the Leafs ( still support the Raps and Blue Jays ) until Brian Burke took charge.
I'd say Pittsburgh for Ottawa. 3 playoffs series in 5 years does that.
Not even close from the Pittsburgh side. PErsonnally Ottawa is even my second favorite team. Sure, going there 4-5 times a year to catch games helps...

I've never really seen the Kings in a legit rivalry in my 10 years of being a fan, but I agree with the person earlier who said the Sens and Kings always seem to have some intense games. Do the Kings/Canucks count as a rivalry after 2 playoff series in 3 years? Curious to hear what Canucks fans have to say. Obviously the Bruins and Blackhawks are a bigger deal for the Canucks, but I can't really think of another team outside of the Pacific that the Kings have a rivalry with.
We had as big of a rivalry with the Stars as two teams that play each other about once a year could have, but a lot of that had to do with Ott, so it takes a lot of wind out of the sails; there's still some definite hatred between the two teams though. Most Bruins fans hate the Penguins but I think it's more one-sided on our part. We'll see what happens with the Capitals as well as the Lightning in the future, but I wouldn't consider them legit rivals yet.
Yep. Plus, Sharks versus Blues (Pronger years) and Sharks versus Blackhawks (Did you see the Toews vs. Thornton fistacuffs at the end of the first period of a midseason game last season?!!)...
There's something about the Central division that gets the Sharks goin'!
Yet I'd say the vs. have been the most intense lately, from a San Jose perspective. Every game last season was a barn burner!

Boston Pittsburgh is sort of a funny rivalry because in hockey most Bruins fans despise the Pens, mostly because of Ulf, but I think most Pens fans are indifferent to the Bruins or only have a minor hatred. Contrast that to football where every Steeler fan I know hates the Patriots with the fire of a thousand suns and Patriots fans, while they do hate the Steelers, I don't think share the same passion about it.
Since the Deadwings aren't competition anymore since there aging superstars and our youngblood....I guess the option for Colorado is St.Louis because of the trade
Cute. Av's fans are not in a position to be talking down to anybody let alone Wings fans.
Has to be the Hurricanes. So much playoff anguish. I want to get them in the playoffs to put a whooping on them, but I don't want them in the playoffs because I know some bizarre last second **** is going to happen and crush my dreams.
I'd say for the islanders the leafs but there hasn't been that much recently, but I've noticed the last couple seasons the games between the Isles and 'canes seem to be really feisty.

It's not just people from Toronto who don't support the Canucks in the Playoffs. It seems the rest of Canada with the exception of Vancouver and the Province of British Columbia doesn't support them. Plus it seems fans of teams in the United States think the same based on the negative Canucks posts I have seen during the Playoffs.
Now my guess is a lot of fans from other teams hate when Ryan Kesler always keeps diving and the Canucks give this attitude that for some reason they think their better then everyone else.

You do realize, as your fanbase is quick to point out, the rest of Canada and the league hates the Leafs. So it looks like perhaps this "rivalry" is two sided. Perhaps being the 2 most hated teams in the league has something to do with it... everyone hates the Canucks (including Leaf fans) and everyone hates the Leafs (including Canucks fans) so I guess it makes sense now.
I get why people hate Vancouver. They have been successful recently and they have annoying players on their team. What reason does everyone have for hating the Leafs? They supply teams with easy points in the standings and don't have many unlikable players on their roster.

People hate Toronto because of the media attention we get no matter if the Leafs have winning seasons or lossing seasons. Plus we have the history of being an Original Six team and maybe other fans are jealious of that.
You basically said why people hate the Canucks which are more legit with players like Burrows and Kesler.
