Kevin Long will be fired.

But it's just a knee-jerk reaction. Long isn't the problem but he's certainly not helping.

The Yankee lineup has 100pct job security under Shallow Hal and Timid Hank. It took 165 games for some of these multi-millionaire strikeout kings to be held accountable.

I'm really not that upset. This Yankee team resembled nothing close to a Pennant winner for 99 pct of the season. The fact that they won a tough division and a playoff round with an underachieving lineup and a ton of injuries (to include Rivera) is a major miracle.

The Yankees built the last dynasty on contact, defense and speed. It started in the early 1990s under Bob Watson and Stick Michael. Look at the 1994 team who was the best in baseball (IMO). Nothing but line drive hitters.

Girardi reminds me of Davey Johnsopn after 1986. Zero accountability. Zero. Swisher, Cano and AS-Rod joking and laughing all game long regardless of the score. At least Davey had Mex and Kevin Mitchell to knock teeth in. Who does Girardi have? Jeter? Jeter could care less about his teammates or what theyre doing. Jeter is a lead-by-example Captain, but the rest of the team could care less about his example.

I say get young, get fast and get fundamental. I'll suffer through an 80-win season or two to get back to a balanced, enjoyable lineup.

Who? The Yankees farm system, as usual in the last decade+, is completely overrated. One of the reasons this team is so old to begin with, and a big reason why Cashman's job isnt safe, nor should it be.

Yanks actually have a lot of really good quality prospects - unfortunately they're almost all in A ball or below and a few had large parts of last season derailed by injuries (to the previous poster's point).

Sanchez, Austin, Williams are locks for top-100. Solid chance of all 3 in top-50. Banuelos is a fringe top-100 because of inuries.

Top-10 farm system in baseball. Hensley could turn out to be a really good one.

The Yankee farm system is overrated. What happened to these catching prospects? You don't hear anything. The killer B's? None have progressed. They need to get younger some how.

It's not overrated. They have a ton of talent in the Single-A and Shortseason leagues.

Sanchez is only 19 and hasnt hit AA yet. J.R. Murphy is only 21 and made his AA debut this season.

The Yankees dont rush prospects.

I dont think the yankee's situation is all thay dire going forward. Whenever they've been healthy, their rotation has been stellar this year. Theyll be getting mariano back next year and their bullpen will be sick. With a few tweaks to the lineup the 2013 team could be a major contender. They are an aging team, but I dont think its out of the question that they have one more run in them.

In the short term yes, but Pettitte is 40, Kuroda 38, Hughes is a 4th starter. The killer B's haven't lived up to the hype, and Pineda is a serious question mark coming off a good first half bad second half followed up by showing up 300 pounds at Spring Training follower by an injury then DUI

I dont think anybody here thought the Yankees were legit WS contenders for about 4/5's of the season. They had massive underproduction from almost everyone on offense, and I think Gardner's injury hurt this team a lot more than was mentioned.

Moving forward, I dont think they let Granderson go, only because he cost Austin jackson (and Ian Kennedy and Phil Coke). He's one year removed from an MVP season and his mechanics can be fixed.

IMO, as a start, they should fire Long, let Swisher walk and eat the bulk of A-Rod's salary

Yankees have a pretty good farm. It's not just Banulos and Betances.
They have plethora of outfielders. Most will start next year in AA. So they're not that far away.

Tyler Austin -RF
Mason Williams-CF
Slade Heathcott-CF
Ramon Flores-LF
Gary Sanchez - C

I'm kind of surprise these kids haven't gotten much attention when the Yankee system is discussed. It's usually about the "killer B's".

I guess it's a good thing they're not being hyped. Usually hyped prospects are bust.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman said that he anticipates his coaches coming back. Called Kevin Long "one of the best hitting coaches in the game."

Banuelos is already done for all of next year as he needed TJ surgery, but he was only having it in October.

I'm afraid we may have Sather/Dolan situation arising.

Hal will not fire Cashman. Why? because he feels comfortable with him. He likes him.
Hal is not very baseball savvy. He can't pick apart Cashman's work. If he knew anything about baseball, he would know Long should be let go. Cashman as well.

Not that Kevin Long is the sole blame but this is what teams do when they don't perform.....someone gets fired.

If George was alive, Long would have been fired 2 years ago.

im not blaming him i just haven't really been a fan of him overall as the yankee manager. he makes alot of poor decisions at times and doesn't seem to build alot of confidence. i like him as a person and i liked him as a player but i just don't know if he was the right fit for manager.
