I don't want to trade Souray unless we are getting a great player in return. Leaders don't grow on trees.

What's the big deal about Bell? I wouldn't even trade Perezhogin straight up for him.

This would be a good deal. But switching Aucoin for Souray how would that help Montreal? Maybe Abs instead of Souray?

Let's break the trade down...Per and Bell is a swap. Aucoin and Riberio is a swap....that leaves Abs adn 2nd rounder to switch first rounders....very even. If both Staal and Johnson is gone when Chicago drafts. Which they probably will be.

At the financial side - Aucoin and Bell total 5.5 million. Abs, Riberio Perez - 4.5 million. Chicago would be moving some salary as well. But Montreal would be solving a lot of problems.

Problem is : why would the Hawks want Aebischer ? **cough** Khabibulin **cough**

The Souray for Aucoin swap makes sense only from a Hawks point of view, as it would be a salary dump while not really downgrading on D.

They are trying to move the Bulin wall. Tim Sassone says he could very well in up back in Tampa with St.Louis moving to Chitown. Now, that would be a blockbuster

Now, your proposal would make a lot more sense of course.

But I'd say to keep the edge on this one, Sassone should deal Khabibulin first, as Tampa may not be the only team interested (despite Bulin's salary).

Sassone loves to speculate and write what he thinks the Hawks should do. Tallon and Stan Bowman both said they fully expect Khabby to rebound next year. But I guess you never know what will happen.

I would try to trade Ribeiro, Perezhogin and Aebisher for their 1st pick in the next draft. If they want to get rid of Lapointe, I would take him to play on that third line with Bonk and Bégin.
