HOW THE **** DOES JOE MAYS ****ING MAYS STILL HAVE A STARTING JOB WHAT THE **** WHY IS HE COVERING ROB ****ING GRONKOWSKI IN A NICKEL SITUATION WHY THE **** IS HE ON THE FIELD IN A NICKEL SITUATION?!?!?!
****.
ok, I'm better now. I don't know whether to blame Mays or our coaching more for the whole situation.
Lost his starting job to Keith Brooking. Didn't see anything out of Brooking to suggest Mays will get his job back.
In addition the few times Irving and Trevathan were on the field they made some decent plays.

You have to be pretty bad to lose your job to Keith Brooking, because Keith Brooking ****ing sucks. He is one of the worst players in the league anymore.

Brooking made some nice stops in the running game and was generally less stupid than Mays. Does anyone get paralyzed by play action and fake more than Mays in the entire league? Brooking was also slower than Mays (if that's even possible) and not as physical. But the best part of Brooking was that they didn't leave him on the field in nickel situations. I don't know why the hell they keep doing that with Mays.
Really, the only chance for this team's MLB play is if DJ can step in. I think he can too, much as I dislike him as a person.
Amen to this. Every time I watch Chris Harris he impresses me more and more. Our secondary is starting to look like it will have some consistency for the next 3-4 years.
This game is brutal, they're playing embarrassingly. Not only are they getting destroyed, but I have manning and thomas in my fantasy lineup, needless to say i don't think i'm winning this week...

I would be shocked if the Broncos don't go after a middle linebacker this offseason whether that be in the draft or free agency.

If there's a way to land Manti Te'o, I think you have to take it. I'd trade up for sure. I know, ND hype and such, but still -- what a player that kid is. That Georgia MLB that got suspended could be an interesting roll of the dice, if we were willing to take on character risk.
Who else is out there in UFA? Is there a football capgeek to look this up?
Urlacher's out there but I think Bears fans would revolt if he left.
Lots of dudes that are headed over the hill on this list.

Not much there, although I confess to not knowing every starting ILB in the league that well. They do seem to be missing James Laurinaitis on that list though, and while I doubt the Rams let him go, he'd be a great choice.
Rey Maualuga would be good but the Bengals wont let him go either.
Of course we could have had Ray if McDaniels hadn't botched the first 2 rounds of 2009. Boy I hate looking at that draft and seeing what we could have had. So many good contributors in that draft and we basically went 0/3.

A large factor as to why the Broncos have little depth.

Not that I don't think Maulauga would have been a better choice than Ayers, Moreno, or Smith, but I doubt he'd be on our radar now. He's more of a 3-4 ILB, too big and slow. Unless we go more 3-4 again, I guess. I always thought Dumervil was a better 3-4 rush OLB than 4-3 DE, lots of other players would move to the 3-4 well too - Miller, Wolfe, maybe Irving. Still no real NT though.
I'm really worried that McGehee is going to wake up one morning and remember that he's 31, fall apart, and leave the Broncos with RBs that can't break forty yards a game.
I've stated for a while Rahim Moore was a player. He's still working in coverage, but he will get there. Remember, he was drafted because of his ability to go get the ball, not necessarily as a tackler.
Run support isn't a problem for Rahim Moore, pass coverage is. Bites on play action, is often out of position, leaves his corners without help over the top, doesn't break fast enough on passes to intercept or break them up. That said, he does come up and tackle well on run support but is fooled often as is Adams.
He is only a second year player so still time to get it together. And I do see some improvement from early in the season. But he has not been good in coverage.
I think Rahim Moore has made some big strides this season. Does he still suck? Pretty much, but at least he can contribute this year. He has a ways to go though, but I agree the talent is there.
