Forbort looks much improved this year. Everything about his game is smooth, hopefully he keeps taking chances offensively, because when he does he can put up a lot of points.

Good to hear, thank you. He looked pretty solid in the little bit of the exhibition game I watched the other night.
Nick Shore had a very solid game this past weekend against the Thunderbirds of BC in an exhibition game. The final score ended up being 2-2 but Shore put on a clinic showing how far he has come along since his draft.
"I spent this off season the same way I always do where my hockey is concerned. I worked hard at improving every aspect of my game and getting stronger" Shore set up the first goal of the game by setting up fellow Pioneer Jarrod Mermis with a perfect pass from the left side. "I saw Jarrod jumping in and knew that if I could make a nice pass that he would find the back of the net" Shore said.
Nick has always had a sort of Jack of all trades master of none sort of game in my opinion but towards the middle of last season he seemed to take a big step forward in developing his offencive game. Saturday night showed that his hard work during the offseason has helped him take yet another step forward in becoming an elite prospect in every aspect of the game.
"I didn't really change anything, I think I am just seeing things better" said Shore after the game "it would have been better if we could have won".
I left the game very impressed both with Nick's continued maturity and the improvement to his game. He was clearly the best player on the ice most of the time for either team and if he continues on his current path could become a very good 2nd/3rd line center for us in a few short years.
It's a long season ahead and I will get back to see Nick play at least two more times before the season is over and will write more then.
I am also going to keep an eye on Quinten Shore who has just joined the Pioneers and looked really good at a recent prospects game.
Forbort continuing to dominate this year. He was dominant in all 3 zones, scored his second goal in two games while missing a back door tap in as well. Finished the game with 1g, 1a. Check out his goal at undsports.com, absolute rocket from the point.
Alex Roach and the Calgary Hitmen are playing the Edmonton Oil Kings on the NHL Network right now for anyone interested. Replay of a game yesterday but still better than nothing.
Gibsons backup is putting up good numbers in Chicoutimi. I wonder what happened to our poster who was a fan of Gatinaeu whom would deliver priceless updates on Nick Des throughout the season. Some Hyka updates sure would be swell
Forbort 1 assist and +3 in UND's season opening 5-0 win against Alaska-Anchorage. UND played the game with only 15 players due to injuries and suspensions, who included 4 of their top 6 forwards, and senior captain defenseman. It was a very impressive win for UND and Forbort was a big part of it.

Thanks for the Forbort updates, I've got high hopes for the kid.
Denver vs AF tonight...game still has a few minutes left and it's 4-2 Denver. Nick Shore scored the first THREE goals for Denver. He didn't score the 4th goal...but assisted on it. Sweet. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/box...?vc=afa&hc=den

St Clouds Nick Dowd is tied for 6th in scoring...not tied for 6th for St Cloud!! No, he's tied for 6th in scoring in the nation. HF has him listed at 6' 175, but on St Clouds site he is now listed at 6'2" 196. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/stats/overall.php

Nick Shore is going to be Jarrett Stoll's replacement in a few years, kid's going to be very solid for us
I live 15 miles from DU...and haven't been to a game there in about 4 years. I think I will change that and get over there a few times this season. TonellisGhost - let me know if you make it out here for a game and I will meetup with you there.

I was at last nights game and will actually be in Denver for the couple of Cut Throat games too. I won't be the guy throwing fish on the ice but thought that was a funny minor league advertising ploy when it happened.
I can't add much more to Nick's game then what has been said already. He has completely stepped up his O game and looked like a man among boy last night. Great vision and has also picked up his consistency when it comes to where he sets up in his D zone.
I seriously thought it might have been a girl on first glance. Geez though, the hair probably gave him the extra two inches.
I thought so too, then I read the article, saw he was growing his hair to donate to cancer patients, and felt guilty. Love to see that kind of character in one of our prospects.
At the Soo/Erie game and Schumacher left in the 1st with what looked like an upper leg injury and hasn't returned. Colin Miller is having a nice game wearing the C for Soo.

Glad to hear he's playing. He was out for a while with an injury.
