Past and Present Players' Gordie Howe Hat Trick Totals
I've long been annoyed at how it is nearly impossible to find any information on how many gordie howe hat tricks certain players have had in their careers. So I decided to tirelessly search through old box scores to find exactly that, the totals of players I've always been interested to know. And I thought that other people may like to know these totals too.
Forget what you've read from other sites or publications, this is the most accurate and longest list of players' career GHHT totals you've certainly ever come across.
Note: Both regular season and playoff GHHT's included in totals.

I won't argue that it's not the longest. How do we know that it's the most accurate? (Not criticizing - I genuinely am interested.)
Hardcore research? Yet I don't see Stan Mikita nor Ted Lindsay on your list. SIHR has Mikita having 22 in his career, Terrible Ted 19.
As you can see there are many players who are not on my list yet. This is just the start of it, more players to come. Mikita and Ted are both high priorities, although I don't know if I'll be able to find game data for the early part of Ted's career.

It might have been wise to spend more time on this project before coming out and proclaiming 'this is the most accurate and longest list of players' career GHHT totals you've certainly ever come across.'

I proclaimed the truth. Where else on the internet can you find GHHT totals of Clark, Neely, Gillies, Lindros, or most of the guys on this list for that matter? I've been trying to find someone with that information for years and I finally said f%&k it and did the research myself. I don't see the point of you ragging on me for the hard work I put into this.
I find it really hard to believe Mikita has 22, when he has 29 fights in his career. I doubt 22 of those times he also had a goal and an assist.
interesting to see Wendel place relatively high on this list when you consider how rare assists were for him.
Figuring out Mikita's total is my next project. And Clark averaged about a fight and a goal every second game for the first few years of his career, so by default a lot of his assists occurred in the same games. 5 out of his 7 GHHTs happened in his first two years actually.

I respect your enthusiasm! I just thought you should have waited until your data was more complete. The absence of Mikita and Lindsay et al. is inexcusable, IMO.
I wouldn’t pay a profit organization for stats. But SIHR is a class organization; all funds collected cover operating costs and promotion of hockey history – a good example would be the compelling package they put together and submitted to the HHOF to attempt to have James Creighton inducted as a builder, as well as the headstone they purchased for his previously tattered grave.
and quality-wise, it's the best stats database out there. as far as the nhl goes, it's no different from hockey-reference or hockeydb, where you can click from player to team to league seamlessly, but on this database you can do it for all players, teams, and leagues, not just NHL. in that regard it is even far more user-friendly than hockeydb. And no popups.

That's ok I guess. I do doubt that they have a complete list of players with GHHTs like the other guy is saying though, probably just the top 5 that was published in that hockey news article, which by the way is not accurate at all. Tocchet has 18 not 15 and Sutter has 17 not 12, either they did not count the playoffs or are confused as to what a GHHT is. Or they simply did not look at every game.

It would help if, instead of listing the totals, you also listed the games that you counted for each player. That would make it easier for someone else to verify your totals as accurate (instead of taking your word for it).
I have done a ridiculous amount of research into Lanny McDonald's career, so I can give you his totals:
4 with Toronto, 1 with Colorado and 1 with Calgary for 6 total.
These are games where he's officially credited with a fighting major.
To abide with the request above:
1. January 8th vs. Vancouver, 1G/1A, Fight (Ron Sedlbauer)
2. February 25th, 1976 vs. Detroit, 1G/1A, Fight (Dennis Polonich)
3. April 3rd, 1977 vs. Boston, 1G/1A, Fight (Terry O'Reilly)
4. October 29th, 1977 vs. Detroit, 3G/1A, Fight (Al Cameron)
5. February 19th, 1980 vs. Philadelphia, 2G/2A, Fight (Jack McIlhargey)
6. October 30th, 1983 vs. Vancouver, 1G/1A, Fight (Dave Williams)

Reason: Added dates, etc.

Great idea, that'll shed some doubts. I'll start adding the games soon although it may take awhile, that's a lot of games to compile.

First thing I thought of when I first saw the list as well.
I have no issue with Tocchet having 18. He has always been one of the top guys in that regard. But my memory seems to tell me that both Shanahan (17 on your list) and Iginla (11) officially passed him. I genuinely thought Iginla would have more than 11 since he is one of the best fits for this type of thing. But I have never done a whole lot of research on this officially so I'll roll with it.
