i know its early but with the full season lockout and all, we do have a draft pick to look forward too... im guessing the caps will pick towards the middle anywhere from 11-17 (if a full season lockout presents itself) interested in who you guys think we will take.
im very interested in Jacob de la rose, someone who, at this point, will be available at that range. Plays for Leksands with Forsberg. From what ive read this guy a is a "new age" power forward/two way forward who can play any offensive position. anybody know anything more about this kat?

Well if it is another snake draft who knows. Love the top 10 of this draft.
The indications are that GMGM expected to take a D at #11 in 2012, but couldn't pass on Foppa when he fell into the Caps' lap. I expect them to go D with their first pick in 2013.

im AOK with going defense.. but rather best player available...im a big fan of ristolainen...
Same here, but I think he's going top 10-12..
Zadorov, Morrissey, Pulock, Theodore would all be nice, from what I've seen and heard.. Man would be nice to get another first for this draft year.. Should we call Sherman ?
Unless one really drops, like Fucale is there at #30, no thanks on the goalie. It seems like just as many good goalies come out of the middle rounds as come out of the first.

I think the drafting process of goalies has been turned around... not so much good stats on stacked teams, but the athletic ability, which is what made Vasilevski such a great pick, would of gone top 10 if not for being Russian.
Craig Button's top 30 always proves to be unique. He's quite high on Traktor's Nichushkin & London's Zadorov. Again, it's early but the 15-30 range seems as good as it's been in some time.
I think that's the list i would most agree with so far. I'm not as high on Lazar and Shinkaruk as others, and Lindholm is definitely top 5 material in my opinion.
it is early. last season at this time the draft coming was believed to be very deep thru the first round. by the trade deadline it was nearly junk. patience is always good on this subject.
The only way we should be able to get him is if there is a full lockout.
Teravainen shouldn't have fallen to 18 either, but he did. I could definitely see the Caps finishing in that range and having the Russian Factor drop Nichushkin into their laps.
Tarasenko & Kuznetsov were both higher profile players and more impressive talents by this point in their draft years compared to VN. Couple that with a draft class whose quality and depth may very well rival or exceed the 2010 draft and Nichushkin going anywhere from 15-30 is very possible. I'd actually expect it (at best) unless he dominates numerous high exposure events or cracks Traktor's lineup full-time.
If the four-year signing window is implemented then that should only make the Russian Factor more pronounced. Many players could just develop in the KHL an extra two years, reap all of the benefits of doing so and then come over as free agents.
