Publicly disclose they were looking for an increase in HRR in first year? Not a chance.

Three proposals...

No. 1: Would have fixed share in first three years. Share then frozen until hits 50% (Year 3 to 5).

No. 2: Players will get 25% of any growth. Their share would hit 51% by Year 4 and 50% by Year 5 with 5% growth.

No. 3: "We'll move to 50-50 as long as you honour contracts." Players get 13% up front to cover those contracts

Yea this is all on the NHL imo.

Don't see how Bettman can possibly say "players willing to go 50/50 as long as owners honor all contracts" is going backwards. Sure there's more to it but that's absolutely ridiculous.

That's a stretch, at best.

NHLPA has shown they're willing to negotiate and work to get a deal.

The NHL has rejected every offer the NHLPA has made because it wasn't their own. But then gone out and said that they're the only ones willing to compromise and negotiate.

Don't see how saying that is a stretch at the moment.

For what it's worth, the owners did propose an even split.
Not that an even split would magically make everything work, but it has been the most "fair" proposal.
It's my understanding the 3rd proposal makes the most sense, but it can't possibly end up a legitimate 50/50 split if the contracts are honored.

Its a massive stretch. The NHLPA refuses to speak the same language as the NHL (linkage).

Yes. Not letting the NHL get everything they want is such an outrage.

NHL players aren't just morons, they're concussed morons. But they can tell when they're being swindled. The NHL just needs to be sneakier in their swindling.

Because obviously they never thought they would actually have to pay those huge lifetime contracts.

Let's judge that after games 2-5.

The Stars are the only metroplex team on an upward swing, so attendance might not be so bad.

Crowds were going to be horrid with or without this lockout imo.

Why do you say that? They had turned around by the end of the season before the collapse. And I think people were generally excited about the offseason moves.

What's your definition of turned around?

They were 6,000 bad like during the Rangers run, but they were still awful crowds.

Even during that game that we set the new record vs Chicago, there were at least 2,000 empty seats. And 1/4th of the arena was Chicago fans.
