Disagree with the details, agree with the basics. You won the face-off, I got ready to defend. You sat there with the puck.
We both got a garbage goal, and I missed too many one-times in the slot. You deserved the win, but it wasn't much fun--and I generally relish my (numerous) losses.
I know how the losses feel. I was no where near playoff position before the sims happened.
I've never done that before, and it's not really in my "strategy" either. It was just something that came up during our game.
I also disagree with my entire strategy being to try for those low rebound shots all game, but it's whatever. I thought we had a good, clean game, just like the past 2 or 3 we've had.

I'm the worst player left in the league--or at minimum one of the three worst--so I've had a lot of practice digesting losses, and I think most here (who have beaten me) can speak to my ability to be pretty objective about what particular aspect of my game was brutal on that given occasion.
I stand by what I said: You did the shoot-low thing quite a few times. It happens. Sometimes on purpose, sometimes on accident. I generally don't do it with my top-two lines, but I sometimes do with the bottom-six, not so much because I have a real problem with it than because I'm trying to figure out how to get (slightly) better at the game. Stamkos shot is pretty hard to defend low far side. It pretty much pops out every time, so it's really an extended pass play. After the one goal you got (not directly off of that, but off the rebound, followed by a bit of scrambling to get back in position), I thought I defended it better, and it wasn't an issue. The other two were perfectly legitimate plays, and I wasn't suggesting otherwise.
Anyway, best of luck in the playoffs. I'm hoping for a better season next year.
If any of the guys who has me left on the schedule want to play tonight, I can, but as mentioned before, I'll be away this weekend, so SIM at your own risk.
Also, as mentioned early, I'm playing Carolina, who is set to CPU playable and out of the playoffs. Hoping to get Tavares and company a few more points and maybe get a little boost for next season. If I win, Carolina has a better chance at a draft pick, so I don't think there should be any objection--I did my best to get the game played.
I was going to try to keep this to PMs, but I guess not.
I won the opening faceoff and saw you immediately went towards your zone with your center. None of your wingers came for me either. I started to skate backwards to gain some momentum to skate up the ice, but noticed you still weren't forechecking me. All 5 of your skaters were on your side of the red line. Why would I try to skate through that or try to dump and chase, something my small forwards can't do well? After seeing that you still weren't coming after me at all, I just stood there right inside my blue line, waiting for you to do something. Neither of us blinked, so after about 5 minutes of game time, I just took the puck up the ice and tried to work the dump and chase. I didn't even do it after I took the 1-0 lead. It only happened during the very beginning of the game.
I agree the 3rd period was a blast.
Jack's offense isnt great so he focuses on D to try and win games. Can't really blame him for that. (Though Jack, learning how to use your guy to forecheck can help greatly, remember that pokecheck can be timed to deflect outlet passes too)
Also see no problem with shooting for rebounds. people should be able to score with any non glitch/exploit methods. Shooting low for rebounds is fine

There aren't really many glitches or exploits, it's all about frequency. As long as you're mixing up your attack and not just blindly attempting the same strategy over and over, there isn't much to complain about IMO.

That's putting it mildly.
I forecheck plenty from the run of play, but off of a face-off, my inclination is to back-up if I lose. Maybe its the EASHL experience.
Regardless, man do I prefer playing the AI. 8 consecutive minutes in the zone on a delayed penalty.

Yeah, but in general just take whatever your opponent gives you, it's their job to adjust generally

This, there's not really anything in the game that goes in every time. There are definitely some high percentage plays but unless your doing the same thing on every play over and over again I don't really have any problems at all. The cruve shots and glitch shots are almost completely gone. You can get away with sniping corners off the rush or in the slot every once and a while but that's real life
I've laid claim to 3rd pairing defenseman--you know, the one who fetches the puck and then gets rid of it really, really quickly, occasionally to the proper team.
It's almost worth being on the team just to watch the adventure that is my guy with the puck.

Trust me man you've been seriously solid back on D. I played over 900 games at D in nhl12 so I know all the tricks and what not, and was actually the #9 defender (points wise) till about June when i stopped playing. Once your player gets better stats it should be much smoother
I'm in if theres a spot open, I'll hop on in a few and send a join request.
Just whatever you do, don't pass to the furry fake-Matt Carle. I can do reasonably well getting back to cover on D, and I've cut down on the penalties--but I think I have like 700 turnovers (though, to be fair, I think that must be an exaggeration
