The four year window wouldn't apply to Russians unless the NHL and KHL worked out a transfer agreement.

You think Ristolainen is going 10-12? wow...at this point he would be falling if he went in that range. Ristolainen will probably be a top 10 pick, Pulock also I could see Morrissey being drafted by you guys if you draft in the 11-17 range. And to whoever said they're not high on Shinkaruk please explain why...

A top-10 pick falling to the 10-12 range?

Yeah, that never happens.

It's unclear based on the NHL's brief proposal whether there would be caveats to their term 'European Players' or not. That shouldn't include CHL imports but beyond that it's hard to say. The lack of a formal transfer agreement doesn't necessarily preclude them from making it universal, albeit likely grandfathered in.

In any event the Russian Factor is strong enough as it is already.

Bogdan Yakimov looks interesting. 6'4" 201, described as bull in china shop in the VHL(KHLs version of the AHL, ie a mans league). 1g-4a as a 17 year old recently turned 18 year old.

Seems like a solid second rounder?

Well, if you look at the VHL, then Sigarev (6'1", 194, '93 born) is a better choice for late picks (can't imagine NHL GM's drafting those guys in early rounds). As a 18 yo he had 8+29 in 42 VHL games last season, then continued with 5+7 in 15 play-off contests, and now had 7+7 in 10, but then was traded to SKA (KHL), and it is unclear where he will play now (limited time in the K or top-6 VHL or MHL). A very humble and hard-working guy. He will be on the Russian Subway Series roster in November.

Maybe some of you saw him in August during the exhibition RUS-CAN series (3 goals in 4 games).

Nichushkin & Yakimov named to Super Series roster. Plus Zadorov for the OHL games.

The thing I like is the bull in a china shop thing, shows drive. The Caps have had their fair share of wussy skill players on the second line that disappear during the playoffs.

From what I've read there are real concerns about his skating though. On the bright side, that plus the Russian factor could make him drop like a rock, could be a great value pick in the later rounds if that happens.

McKeen's November top 30. So far so good.

Watched a bit of Nichushkin's first action in the Super Series yesterday. He was more physical and determined than I expected compared to some past viewings. Pretty solid effort from him. Russia plays the OHL tonight.

Just noticed Nichushkin skates kind of weird because I never would of penned him for 6'4", but its just how he leans over that makes him not look as tall.

Great skater though.

Edit: He actually grew it seems, watched a goal in the VHL, tall kid, once he fills out he's gonna be a strong power forward.

I have a feeling we'll select a center again in the 1st. Assuming we pick in the bottom half th options are Domi, Fasching, Gauthier, Dickinson, Compher, Horvat, Rychel, Kujawinski. Thoughts? I like Domi and Gauthier.

Those two and Compher/Horvat seem like solid fits based on the maturity of their game. Domi may have the best hockey IQ of that group. Fitzgerald is another center, albeit smaller, has the smarts to be a quality center prospect. I haven't seen enough of de la Rose, Wennberg or Wallmark. Fasching, Dickinson & Rychel all currently play wing and seem better suited there.

Center or D in Nurse or Zadorov make sense from a need standpoint but we'll see. A scoring LW like Erne, Mantha, Rychel or Dickinson may not be a bad idea either, though the first two should go fairly high.

Central Scouting preliminary league rankings / Latest ISS rankings.

Nichushkin's game got better as the Super Series went on but top 15 seems a bit high. There's a lot of upside if he figures it all out but he's really raw. The production wasn't really there in the series but he may have flashed enough to be Russia's 13th forward at the WJC at least.

Lazar ranked eighth in the WHL by Central. Zykov ranked over Gauthier/Erne/Mantha.

Ok Langway Mackinnon or Jones if the caps win a hypothetical SNAKE DRAFT PART 2: THE RETURN.

I'd be ok with Hartman and Nichushkin in a snake draft.

MacKinnon. Head-to-head it's pretty close but I'll go with the center most every time.
