There are a lot of rando's on that 01-02 team.http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/l...000512002.html

Joel Bouchard I remember, but who the hell is Bruce Gardiner? I remember Boumedienne because I believe he scored the first goal of the 01-02 season. Throw in Sascha Goc, Salomonsson, and Kamensky and you have a pretty eclectic group.

Well we had Clemmensen for 08/09(Thanks for the BRUTAL goals you let in during game 6 this year Clemmy!) and Weekes. We wouldn't have gotten to know them so well if Marty wasn't injured. Clemmy was our backup on and off for like 7 or 8 years, but didn't get much playing time. Only a handful of starts a year until then.

Chris Terreri was Marty's backup for a few years, but Marty was his backup when he was just breaking through the league. Vanbeezer was his backup for parts of 2 seasons at the end of his career.

I guess. I didn't think Vish was more popular than Rachunek, but I think his drawings made him more popular. Salmela had that big OT goal on that run in 2011, and had two tenure's here too.

I do like this thread. It's fun to think of all these guys. It's adding a lot of conversation. I'm having a hard time keeping up haha.

Haha Boumedienne. He was the one who scored the goal for us which was probably the only goal in the first game of 01/02 when we got blown out in DC by the Caps? I didn't even remember his name. He was probably filling in for an injured D man.

Goc was a fill in, as well as the brother of Marcel Goc who now plays for the Panthers. Salomonsson was your a little better than average Barry Tallackson player who was supposed to replace Mogilny. I don't remember Bouchard, or Gardiner. Kamensky was a deadline acquisition in 02 I guess. I wonder how he, and Niedermayer got along?

Didn't we even have him two different times? Also Cory Muprhy haha.

How about Jay Leach? I know he's still in the organization as the captain of Albany, but he only played a few games here with us in the NHL. He was here twice too. I remember Brent Sutter having a boner for him, and saying all these great things about him.

This was close to when Lou really started making a habit of bringing back guys who had played here before. I think Terreri, and Lemieux were the only Devils to have two tenures before Richer was brought back. I remember him coming back a little. He was pretty much at the end.

Nope. I think he falls under Saugus's established category of "Lou's yearly random defensive acquisition". Got him in 02-03 and the next season he was in Russia.

I know he isn't obscure, but how about Mark Fraser? He was about as obscure as Rod Pelley cause he was here for a while, but in a few years he will be very obscure.

Jacques Lemaire's 8 minute D man who had a knack for scoring goals against Pittsburgh! He was probably our WORST player for like 2 years.

Nah, he was too "popular" in the fact that we all covered our eyes when he was on the ice.

Yeah he came in with Friesen during the Sykora trade. It was actually Rheaume I was thinking of. Easy to get them mixed up. Rheaume was a forward, but he was another random part of the 03 Cup team.

Does Kurtis Foster fall under this? I'd like to say no even though he was only here for 2 months. Though I don't think Ken Klee, Skoula, Havelid, or any of those guys had a ''MUST GO NOW!'' thread about themselves, or sustained as much **** for how awful they were game in, game out.

Foster is too recent and is honestly worse then Fraser because he wasn't a total liability on the ice. Fraser could play defense much better then foster and he could fight.

I think Fraser was worse. Fraser might have played better D, but Foster brought offense. Even if he gave it right back up with nonexistent defense.

Ahonen has actually established himself as one of the better goalies around in the KHL.

I'm pretty sure the only reason we drafted him was because Marty was an impending UFA and there was a legitimate chance we needed a goalie for the future. So we drafted Ahonen. When Marty re-signed, there was no chance Ahonen would get any games. And since he wanted the chance to be a starter, we decided let him go. It wasn't so much about talent.

He has a 1.65 GAA and .944 SV% for Magnitigorsk of the KHL right now through 10 games.

He had a 2.16 GAA and .929 SV% in 28 games last year (they have a 54 game season there).

I'm curious what happened with him. You look at Goc's AHL progression and it's very promising. He only got 13 games with the Devils. Guess our blueline was hard to crack back then.
