I'm just wondering if the 1st. sent along with Kadri is going to end up in the top 5 again? I don't think it will.

Kadri hasn't been contributing to the team, and with Luongo and ____ _______ in the middle I'll be pretty happy. Nice young center who had bit of an off year, but still you have to be happy with that deal.
Seems to fit the name Ryan Kesler? Yes?

I want the Leafs to give Kadri a legitimate chance at #1C. None of this **** where he's playing for a period or a game. Give him the role for 10 games minimum and see how he does unless the Leafs acquire that proven #1C.

This is the thing that drives me crazy. We've finished bottom 5 in the league twice since we drafted Kadri We've played a countless amount of meaningless hockey in that time frame. How has Kadri not been given the opportunity to have a no consequences role in the top 6 for an extended period of time yet?

Somehow we STILL haven't managed to find out what we have in a top 10 draft pick from 09.

Disgusting.

Well, it is no loss then if he's moved. Won't miss something they never had.

I voted for Kadri because I went to see him as a top 6 Forward and if it's true that Bozak is involved in a trade for Luongo, I can't see them also adding a #1 Centre in the same deal.

I think it makes sense from both sides to trade Bozak.

-Great fit for the 3rd line (something we've been saying forever)
-Yes, we trade our "1st line" centre, however, we get back a huge need. If you are offered a slight downgrade in one spot, for a massive upgrade elsewhere, you're going to take it. I'd say the same thing if it were Reimer for a 1st line centre.

I say there would be a trade in the works [for another C] if [Bozak] gets traded.

Stop making stuff up.

Even with the NHL lockout in one of its darkest days yet, there's no shortage of trade rumours - particularly regarding Vancouver Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo.

Canucks general manager Mike Gillis told TSN on Friday that all the rumours on the web and on Twitter this week of Luongo going to the Toronto Maple Leafs after the lockout are "not true."

The league's lockout rules prohibit discussions between teams on player transactions, but Gillis admits he did have several serious discussions with teams prior to the lockout and that as many as five teams remain in the mix from those pre-lockout talks.

Many still believe Luongo's former team the Florida Panthers are the frontrunners and if a new collective bargaining agreement includes the freedom for teams to retain salary in trades, it may encourage the Canucks to take back a more expensive player as part of a package.

Luongo was displaced by Cory Schneider as Vancouver's starting goaltender in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs as they bowed 4-1 to the eventual champion Los Angeles Kings. The Canucks subsequently signed Schneider to a new three-year, $12 million contract.

Luongo, who still has 10 years left on his 12-year, $64 million deal, said in the week leading up to the start of the lockut that the Canucks had not asked him to submit a list of preferred teams and he will wait until Gillis had a deal for him to consider.

Of course he did. What should he say? All GMs say there is no trade in the works until there is. That is not to say I believe in the rumors.

Bozak is a logical piece that Vancouver would ask for in a trade.

In Burke's mind he didn't do anything wrong because I guess he can say he never offered Schenn to any other team. However he also said if other GM's ask about him he would listen and if he wasn't then he wasn't doing his job.

What can I say? There's more than SPORTSNET and the star reporting this. It was mentioned on city tv's 11 pm news last night.

I can't believe we have Coke vs Pepsi users here. TSN didn't break the story so therefore they dispell it, and therefore their word is the truth. Give me a break!

You're just going to have to take it.

Bozak stays

I personally think it would more likely be an AHLer like Colborne who is traded, Bozak will be an excellent 3C for the Leafs for a long time...or as long as Kessel is still a Leaf.

i agree. i always saw him as having trade value, but it's just as good to have him as a leaf. i'm not saying this just because i want kessel/lupul to have big numbers.

he's a good 3C for many teams, but Burke really should start moving some of these 3rd line players in order to improve his team in the standings.

I have no problems if GM's lie about shopping players.

When you are running a business you don't have to divulge information/strategy to reporters, employees, the masses.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Interesting to see more Toronto-based pundits starting to chime in on Shannon’s initial report, and good to see Shannon following-up on his initial report.

Quote:
To recap, Gillis and Burke are believed to have had discussions regarding Luongo, but Gillis will apparently have to lower his asking price further. If the Leafs move Bozak they risk leaving themselves thinner at center than they currently are, though there’s talk of moving left wing James van Riemsdyk to center, a position he hasn’t played in years. Still, if they want Luongo, it might take Bozak as part of the return, given the Canucks own concerns at center, especially with Ryan Kesler still recovering from off-season surgeries.Of course, as noted, the next CBA could also play a significant part in any trade.

While it doesn’t appear as though there’s a “done deal” (even Shannon seemed to back away a bit by saying the deal is contingent upon a new CBA), it does seem the possibility exists, provided Luongo is willing to waive his “no-trade” clause to go to Toronto.
He's far from making stuff up.
