How many of you had the first thought when Fehr was hired by the players associayion that "Oh No there will be a strike/lock out for sure when the CBA expires"?

Anyone could have been in charge of the NHLPA and there was 100% going to be a lockout given the stance of the owners.

I think if Paul Kelly was involved, this very well could have been avoided.

I think of the players would just play for free, then a lockout could have been avoided. That is....until the next CBA and the owners will want the players to pay them to skate on their ice....

Yup. At least the owners made an offer that could have at least got a conversation going and the 3 proposals made by the NHLPA were just basically the same exact thing. Season will either start in January or will be cancelled. It's really quite pathetic.

...is a numb skull. NHL players make a lot of money, even the lowest paid ones. After that the coaches and staff get paid and the rest is the owners' money. I don't see what the big deal is. If everyone is happy and getting paid well and is supported, then how much the owners' make is irrelevant and is frankly none of my business. They can make as much as they want as long as people are fairly paid.

It's not as if this is a GM plant that is getting screwed by "big bad corporate bosses". The lowest paid NHL player makes good money when he is called up from the minors.

I would usually side with the union, but this is ridiculous. 50/50 is fair.

Take it and let's play!

Talking about the lockout as it pertains to the Blues is fair game here but a thread just complaining about Fehr or Bettman? Please take that to the main or business boards.
