At least he can teach the kids to look in their skates for the puck if they can't find it.

Effort players often make great coaches.

A lot of people still laugh at the whole "hockey heaven" mindset of Pegula. But he really is trying to turn WNY into a place to foster talent and promote the growth of hockey at all levels. It really is pretty awesome.

For all the **** he did to the Sabres, Larry Quinn was awesome in this regard. He got the Winter Classic, the Pond Hockey Championships, the WJC, etc--he really did try to bring high profile events to Buffalo. It's awesome to see Pegula/Black build on that even more.

I know it doesn't work the same way as it does in soccer, but if they were to set up an U12 program instead of just putting this team together, a Sabres hockey academy would be excellent.

Hmm I just thought about something. This announcement coincides with the plan to buy that Webster development bid. Pegula also tried to purchase(I believe unsuccessfully?) the Elmira Jackals rink when they moved. A new Buffalo arena would be great for housing the 12U and perhaps....a new ECHL team?

I hate to say it, but this was in place long before the Peula era. Te Jr. Sabres started takin over a porton of the Regals to ry an streamlie AAA hockey. Rumor had it that they were going to do Banam nd Midgt and work their waydown eventually. I just assumed thet would have thrown somehing together for the Pee Wee group beforethe squirts. Either or it is fantastic

Just make ure you by 50/5 tickets at the Sabrs ome games. That is really what is pying for all of this.

If they don't have a ECHL team play there, perhaps an OHL team? Another team that could
play there, would be the Buffalo Junior Sabres who currently play at the Northtown Center
at Amherst in Williamsville - where the Sabres sometimes practice when the ice at the First
Niagara Center isn't available for them to skate on.

Would be neat one Saturday or Sunday, attending a ECHL or OHL or College or Junior Sabres
game there in the afternoon then after that ends with an hour or so break - head over to the
First Niagara Center and catch the Sabres at night. A nice hockey-doubleheader that would be.

Heck yah, that sounds like an awesome setup. They could easily rotate teams in and out of there, sharing time with the Northtown Center. With all the restaurants they want to put in right there it would go a long way towards turning that area into a hub for all things hockey.
Families of players from out of town teams would have a reason to stay in the area and enjoy themselves. It would also make Buffalo more attractive for larger tournaments in the future.
