I started watching the pilot last night (what can I say, I've got a DVR backlog) and .. ugh. Not one character shows the tiniest bit of depth. I felt like I was watching a paint-by-numbers script. "Ok here's the scene where he tells his sister how much he missed her. Here's where his best bud wants to go party with him. Here's where the sister of the dead girl tells him off. Here's our villain acting very villainous. Here's where bad guys come get him." The acting performances felt pretty stiff all around, like everyone was phoning it in, not expecting this to get picked up.
It was better than the Revolution pilot, and I'm still watching that for some reason.
As far as a Batman clone goes, I think it was quite serviceable.
Consider that they show comic book panels at times during the show, so it's not meant to be taken as a serious drama.
The climax action sequence reminded me alot of Batman kidnapping the Hong Kong financier in Dark Knight (while partying on his sailing yacht), but I imagine it will be pretty hard to avoid some obvious parallels.
Not sure what it is abot this show, I thought it seemed interesting but I just can not get into it lol. Watched the whole first episode but really don't remember anything fom it andthe 2nd didn't keep my attention through the first half hour.......Don't think I will bother with the 3rd
Having watched all 4 episodes so far, it's a decent replacement for Smallville. The acting and dialogue is really bad at times but the fact that Green arrow isn't afraid to kill is a bonus (although I think that's going to change). The whole bit about the mother being behind the yacht sinking while trying to act all motherly was a bit ridiculous, topped off by seeing her associated with Captain Jack. How big is Starling City to have so many crooked business men? The stepfather Walter being a good guy was a pleasant surprise, usually that's not the case. Like the IT girl at Queen Co. as well. Diggle's actor's doing his job better than Stephen Amell so far.
Best episode so far last night, my only complaints are that Ammel (improving though I think), the lady playing Laurel, and the lady playing his sister (especially her) need to improve their acting skills asap.
