Justin Schultz

Didn't see a recent thread on Justin Schultz, just thought I'd say a few things.

Currently playing in his 3rd game with the Oilers' AHL affiliate, the OKC Barons. He has 4 points in 3 games (with a period to go in the 3rd games)

I honestly thought he would not live up to his hype, but boy was I wrong. Yeah, its only been 3 games, but this guy skates like the wind, has offensive hockey IQ through the roof, and is surprisingly good defensively.

I didn't expect much from him after he signed with the Oilers, but I'm pretty stoked now!

Schultz has looked absolutely fantastic so far. Hopefully he keeps it up, and transitions into the NHL beautifully.

Believe me, we are.

At least we don't have to defend him anymore when people say that the only reason why people think he's great is that he went to free agency.

What he did was questionable (thankful since hes on the Oilers)

But I do think its major irony that Pronger signed a 5 year deal with us and was set to be our franchise D-men, then shockingly demanded a trade (greasy move) and landed with the Ducks only to help them win a cup that year.

Then a promising prospects from the ducks ditches and lands... with the Oilers

But Schultz has looked lights out in the AHL, living up to the hype

No because you got essentially 4 first round picks for Pronger
We got nothing because he lied to our organization

Not surprised. I was sold on him the first time I saw him play.

Did he just get his 2nd goal of the night?

edit: Ah, Empty Net Goal, 2g 1a. Not bad at all.

2 Shorthanded Goals tonight. Albeit, one into an open net that he scored from his own blueline.

Both his goals were Shorthanded as well

Now 5 Points (3G, 2A) in 3 games. His assists were beauty passes. Yeah, I agree Anaheim got screwed by a loophole in the CBA, but I'm not going to complain

Not even remotely the same. There is no denying Schultz talents. There is also no denying he is still a ******!

I kind of figured that he would be really good after watching his college games this offseason on replay after he signed with the Oilers but man, he is playing up to the hype and then some.
It's only 3 games but he is blowing me away with his play right now not only offensively but also defensively. PP, PK and even strength. Sky is the limit for this kid.

Schultz is a helluva player, and he's going to be a damn fine NHLer. I'm just glad we have Vatanen to alleviate the pain.

Sadly, kids leave organizations all the time and it happens to nearly every organization every once in a while.

The unfortunate part for the Ducks was it came at a time after they traded Jake Gardiner and it was a more high profile prospect instead of the normal average type prospect leaving.

Fortunately for them they have a stud in Fowler still, a guy like Vatanen, and a couple other young roster guys to fill the void.

Schultz was the best player on the ice tonight with Nugent-Hopkins and Eberle playing to last season's standard.

I am starting to buy the hype.

I feel for Duck fans about losing out on him, and if I were one I'd hate him too. It sucks when a player walks away from your team.

But as an Oiler fan, I am very excited about this kid. 2g(SH) 1a, +5 and 1st star. Hell of a night.
