For how long? We had a head start in that department but it's not like we have a great women's program. Many more countries are investing in women's football nowadays and if Canada doesn't improve development, they will fall back there too. This country develops the women the same way the men are, the only thing is women football is still pretty recent...

Hopefully, someone in this country or in this world, can come and steer the ship in the right way.

Hainault, Bernier and Occéan.

I mean, even St. Lucia would kick Quebec's arses

There's a lot of work to be done in this country.

Stephen Hart resigns.

Unfortunate how it ended, liked him as a person (and he got this team farther in the continental tournament/WCQ than any other coach since 2000), plus he didn't sit around for six months collecting his money like Mitchell did after '08.

Hart should've been named coach after the 07 Gold Cup. Naming Mitchell coach was a terrible decision.

Anyway, even Mourinho would fail with TFC.

I think that Canada needs to hire a foreign coach. A coach that has been through the Canadian system will not do any good. They need to hire a European or a South American from one of the powerhouses. If they will hire another Canadian (Hart is practically Canadian, he lives in Canada since his university days) I will just laugh. Maybe the talent level is not there, but hiring a domestic coach certainly does not help in that area.

A European will not work.

They need to hire a Central American or a South American

Bingo. You need someone who understands the culture, officials and tactics of your own region. Its a region vastly different than Europe with hits own quirks and needs. If you cant find a good central american manager, then south america is the next best bet in that criteria

We know Canada has many other issues to deal with before the manager will make a big difference on the club, but hiring a euro is just money wasted.

As for the above poster, you can't compare the women's game and the men's game. For starters, I'm not even sure the route that the women have to go through to qualify for major events, but the central american teams are not a threat at this point. Its a totally different situation.

But since we brought up the women's coach, isn't he from New Zealand? Moot point, either way

Hart made some bad decisions as coach, no doubt. But he's also not the only reason we lost 8-1. And people would have been praising him if we made the Hex. Sucks how it went down for him though.

There's an excellent piece on impactsoccer.com about the strategy to adopt for the 2018 WC. It's in French though. I might translate it later

I would absolutely love this, but I don't think the CSA has the money for it.

Bradley makes abut $450K right now, I would guess the budget for the CMNT manager will be...$200K if that.

De Guz has been called for Netherlands friendly against Italy. I'm not sure if it would tie him to Netherlands if he play but regardless I think it pretty much seals it. JDG will never play for Canada.

It doesn't tie him to Holland.

You can play friendlies for one nation, and then go on to play for another. Once you play in a senior qualifier or competition game (World Cup/Euros or the like) then you can't switch back.

Hume turned down an invitation to Team Canada National Camp (for the Gold Cup, I assume) to stay with his club team. Probably pissed how little he was played against Honduras.
