Ballard is guilty of not being better than Hamhuis and Edler.
and he is guilty of horrible play in vancouver on most night he plays

Do you even have a totally out of context video from a highlight reel to back that up? Because that's just not true. You can claim he doesn't have value in a trade, but his play, well not spectacular most nights, is more consistant and admittedly isn't as good as Edler or Hamhuis, but they are our two best defenders and play the same spot. Give some numbers, some exact plays, something to back this up. Otherwise, you're just looking at where he plays on our team and assuming he's however bad here as you want him to be. Stating something doesn't make it fact.

I would say Ballard to NYI for a 4th would be good, I know VAN isn't getting anything back compared to what they gave up but the cap space would be good for them.

I'm guessing you are proposing this for some other team, then the NYI?

Cause it's fantasy to think a team that recently drafted 4th overall, would deal it's next 1st round pick and the key return would be Ballard + a late 1st

2010-11 yep

2011-12 -12 in first 15 games (tbf the whole team stank with scf loss hangover).

2011-12 Pt2 From there on out and into the playoffs he was fine, especially when they stopped trying to make him a RS d.

Isles have a glut of unproven, nice prospects. No interest in passing up a potential franchise player for late 1st rounders, that are more likely to bring in more 'nice prospects' instead of a bluechip prospect.

Snow's actions when shopping his lottery picks, show he prefers quality over quantity.

True, I had forgotten that. Your entire 2012 draft for Murray...

Yeah, doesn't make much sense including Ballard anyways.

NY Post says the Columbus offer didn't happen.Columbus beater says it did.

Whether it did or didn't doesn't matter in this thread.

You make the sort of trade you propose, when your prospect pool is empty.
Snow's been stockpiling prospects for 5 drafts.

Exactly,

If the cap goes down, there's going to be a lot more enticing options for the Islanders to trade for. Guys like Havlat, Bouwmeester, etc., might be traded for lower than market value for their respective teams to fit under the cap. Bieksa will be a ways down on their list.

Hopefully Ballard gets decent Ice Time this year (once it gets going) and his stock will rise. Once he realizes he's not Bobby Orr and he can't rush the puck up every single time he has the puck in his own end, his stock will rise dramatically.

Not with a healthy line up he wont and with the addition of Jason G, unless he stumbles, I think the third line pairing in Vancouver will only get 12-13 minutes a game

The Canucks play their third pair regularly at even strength, Ballards problem is that he hasn't made it onto special teams. If he can make it onto the 2nd PP, it'll really help his ice time.

This may be nice thinking ,but if there no season then your first may be worst then Vancouvers . I would laugh if this trade went down and the Canucks won the lottery .

Would the Islanders be willing to move Kabanov for Ballard?

Are we sending Garth Snow a few pounds of BC Bud before we make that trade offer?

He hangs out on our board but hates the team and all its players, please don't paint us all with that brush.

Ballard is probably the most untouchable player on our team.

Like no team would come close even with a 10-foot pole.

(jk, he's not that bad, but there's still no reason for us to move him yet)

Fortunately for Ballards trade value teams employ full time pro scouts. So while fans of other teams only see box scores, their scouts have been watching him play.

Unlikly imo. Regardless of what armchair gms think of KK's nhl potential, the isles sound like they like Kabanov's upside and expect him to contibute at the nhl level.

If we don't get an nhl season, we may well see one of the league's top teams, win the lottery.

I've posted before that I expect a partial season.

Isles have to have several things break right for them, to make the playoffs.
No interest in moving the 2013 first. Certainly not for Ballard and potentially late 1st rounders.
