Best active players atm of each country

So best active players of each position in your country at the moment like LW, C, RW, D and Goalie also you could note who is the best shooter, playmaker etc. And i don't mean players that used to be the best like Dominik Hasek for Chezh but the one that is best at the moment.

You can also tell who do you think is gonna be the next best player in the future.

So for example my country:

Finland

C Mikko Koivu

LW Valtteri Filppula

RW Teemu Selänne

D Kimmo Timonen

G Pekka Rinne

Denmark: Since a lot of the best players haven't started yet, it's going to be based on last season performances:

Goal: Frederik Andersen
Defence: Philip Larsen
Center: Frans Nielsen
Right Wing: Jannik Hansen
Left wing: Nichlas Hardt

But offcourse Peter Regin (C), Lars Eller (C), Mikkel Bødker (RW/LW) and Nicklas Jensen (RW/LW) will be contending for the forward positions.

For the Finnish hockey fans! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hpV_-jBQmo

Anyway Im an American Croat but try to stay in touch with sports in Croatia, best I can...

I know plenty of proud Croats who grew up in America or Canada but the only guys I know who actually have the rights to play for Croatia are

Joel Prpic and Alan Letang.

If you know more, please share detail

Best players at each position for Canada:

LW - Sharp (Blackhawks)
C - Crosby (Penguins)
RW - Nash (Rangers)
LD - Keith (Blackhawks)
RD - Weber (Predators)
G - Price (Canadiens)

90% of the top Canadian forwards play centre, making the wingers weak. Also, Canada does not currently have an elite goalie.

Well i can't really think many Left wingers for Canada, don't you guys usually use Centers as wingers in Olympics and other international tournaments because you have a lot of elite Centers? Like Stamkos, Crosby, Getzlaf...

Same thing goes for Finland most of our wingers in IIHF tournaments are Centers in the NHL, KHL or FEL.

Isn't Huberdeau a LW? If he is then he has a change for being the best LW of Canada in the future.

Well, Canada has Neal, Perry, Iginla, St. Louis, Eberle to name a few pretty good wingers..

Sweden would probably go Sedin, Sedin, Eriksson, Karlsson, Edler, Lundqvist even if I want Zetterberg in there somewhere.

Valtteri Filppula says hi.

Also, this makes far more sense when it's about the best starting lineup (all-star style, not accounting chemistries), which means you should name two D-men. Timonen is one, Joni Pitkänen another.

Sedin-Sedin/Bäckström-Eriksson

Karlsson-Edler/Enström

Lundqvist

I think OEL will be there in a very near future.

By what standarts, what has Pujacs shown in Omsk? Nothing. Kulda on the other hand is the best latvian OD.

Canada's top left wingers right now: Sharp, Hartnell, and then a dropoff to Lucic, Marleau, Marchand, ...
It's likely that none of them will make the Olympic team, and the LW spots will just be filled by natural centres.
(In Vancouver we had centres E. Staal and M. Richards playing at LW).

RW is a little better, with Iginla and St. Louis aging our best right wingers would be Perry, Nash, Eberle, Neal.

It is somewhat weird that almost all of the elite Canadian forwards are centres.

Baertschi - HUGE ? - Brunner
Streit - Josi/Sbisa
Hiller

Status Quo with Switzerland. Defense and Goaltending are solid/ok. But the offense is just one huge question mark at the moment. The future looks promising with prospects like Baertschi, Nino and, to a lesser extent, Richard in the pipes, but the wingers never were the main problem. We didn't have a noteworthy center for a long time and there is still nothing in sight to solve this problem. Cunti, probably. But it tells the whole story if you have to list a "busted" prospect as your top center.

Filppula is a center? Not sure does he sometimes play as a LW but i think J. Jokinen is our best natural LW atleast. The 2 defenceman ain't a bad idea and i gotta admit that i wasn't sure who'd i pick for d-man so i chose Timonen.

I know, we in Finland have the exact same situation as Canada when it comes to forwards, most of our best forwards are centers so we fill our national teams usually with them.

It's not so clear-cut actually. While Jokinen has been mostly a winger in the NT, his time as a centre in club teams has been 50-50. In fact, with his latest excursion to Kärpät, he also spent most of his time down the middle. He is something of a multipurpose forward really, as is most of our top talent who are not natural centres.

Filppula is a similarly-cut case. He might be "mostly" a centre, but he's spent plenty of time as a wing in Detroit and in the NT as well. Therefore I'd say he is our best option at LW at the moment.

If you wish to name a guy who is purely a winger and spends his time on the left, my pick would be Niklas Hagman.

They are not product of croatian hockey. Best croatian born and trained player currently is Borna Rendulic (injured at the moment) who is playing with HPK in SM-Liiga.

I guess your'e right so Filppula it is, because of so many forwards that play more than just in one position we should pick the one who is best avaible.

I found the winger positions to be more questionable than the center one, with only Von Arx and Romy as possible choice.

On the wings, Bärtschi and Niederreiter are hard to compare to players with more NLA or national team games such as Wick, Ambühl or Brunner. And Wick and Bärtschi can play both wings.

I'll go with:

RW: Damien Brunner
C: Reto Von Arx
LW: Sven Bärtschi or Roman Wick, not sure about that one.
D: Mark Streit
G: Jonas Hiller

You're right, I tend to overlook Romy.
I'd agree with you on Von Arx, but I'm not sure if you can call him an "active" player in the thread's sense since he's not playing for the national team, although he's playing for Davos.

Germany

Marcel Müller Marcel Goc Patrick Reimer

Dennis Seidenberg Christian Ehrhoff

Thomas Greiss (Dennis Endras)

Future:

Tom Kühnhackl Leon Draisaitl Tobias Rieder

Konrad Abeltshauser ?????

G Philip Grubauer (Mathias Niederberger)

Looks like now we have a good D with a lack of Forwards.
In the future it could be the opposite...
